8. Gamera was always my favorite Japanese monster |
|
I loved those movies as a kid - I mean, I loved ALL the monster movies - and we had a station that played one every Saturday night, and for a while, played them EVERY AFTERNOON! - but I always felt a special joy when it was a gamera movie.
Go, Gamera, Go!

they are well worth a view (and available on DVD). Shosuke Kaneko's take on the Gamera mythos is GREAT.
I am raising my son (he's 2.5 years old) with a healthy dose of Gamera in his life. They were the first movies he ASKED to watch from our DVD/VHS collection. His current favorite if Gamera vs. Guillon (widescreen from Neptune VHS).
We are a Kaiju family.
