Anyone heard the word "ass" used like this? |
|
I hear the word "Ass" used in place of the word "Shit" all the tijme here at work. As in: "It looks like ass." Or: "We have an assload of those things in stock." Is it just me or does it sound odd?

1. Yes, I've noticed that. |
|
A friend's girlfriend refers to things tasting like ass, if they are nasty.
Eh, I'm used to it now, but at first it seemed a bit odd.

I've heard the term, it's used, alas, To mean unpleasant, "This tastes like ass!" I'm certain that it's seldom meant To indicate a compliment.
"This tastes like ass!" is condemnation "It tastes nasty!" is sure conflation. Still, one question bugs me so... How in Hades would they KNOW?!!

It started out as "butt" as in "I hate that band, they are so butt". Then it got taken up a notch: "I hate that band, they are so ass". It's basically used to described anything that sucks. I don't know if it's still in use that much anymore.
On edit: this post is actually in response to the original post.

3. I guess it's because "ass" is considered less vulgar... |
|
...than "shit." You can say "ass" on network TV but not "shit."
I think it's kind of silly, myself. Sometimes "shit" is absolutely the "mote juste."
