Recorded Casablanca yesterday....
I have it on tonight because I am doing a mess of work for a guy running for re-election to council here in one of the bigger suburbs of Cleveland...

Anyway, I got to thinking about Ronald Reagan and how he was offered the role of Rick.

Now we all know he was a b at best actor but then so was Bogart until he made this movie.

I thought that Ronnie probably would have pulled it off and maybe it would have made him more of an icon.

But Bogart, well, he was Bogart and up until this movie he played, more than not, criminals, cut throats, bad guys. I think that was how he could pull this role off. A little bit of a rouge, a lot of cynicism and a dash of debonair.

Ronnie, well, he was the all american kind of guy, the galoot, the plodding on guy...

He would have been serviceable, but Bogart, well he became iconic.

As for a rouge, wouldn't you be talking about a former governor of Alaska?
This has been another adventure in extreme proofreading.

7. You'd think it would be wasted in a black and white movie, but

unless you are actually Supertramp Charlie Chaplin or a HAL 10,000 series computer, each of whom possesses a type of perfection.

12. ...And others in the cast that didn't make it...(if the rumors are correct)
Dennis Morgan in the Paul Henreid role, and Ann Sheridan in the Ingrid Bergman part.
THANK GOODNESS it didn't happen that way!!
It would have been a brilliant screenplay with a lousy cast. And forgotten by now, most likely.
