I would like to share an anniversary that I'm very proud...
of..

I quit smoking a year ago today. I haven't so much as taken a drag. On Sept. 13, 2010 at 11:00 am I smoked my last cigarette. I smoked for 29 years, and did it cold turkey.

I was so scared of failure, and letting everyone down. I quit once before for about 4 months but went back. I haven't really had the desire to smoke even when I'm around people that are smoking.

My husband and kids were so supportive, they deserve a big kudos for helping me get through the first week or so.

I feel better, I don't get winded as easily either. I picked up some weight in the process, but I'm working on losing that. A friend, from DU told me...you can lose weight, you can't grow new lungs. She's right..so now I'm working on losing the weight. About 30 lbs.

I am proud of myself. YAY me!

14. Outstanding!
11 years for me and I still want one every now and then. Of course, as soon as I even catch a whiff of a smoker walking by (not necessarily smoking at the time), that craving is gone.

Second hardest thing I've done in my life, and not a day goes by that I'm not proud of myself. You should be proud as well.

15. Yeah You!!!!
My dad was a 3+ pack a day smoker, who one day stopped...cold turkey...kept a pack in his briefcase for a year, in case some traumatic event sent him reeling and needed a cigarette. After a year threw the pack away and never looked back. Now if I could only do the same with ice cream.

Great achievement! Congrats!!!!!

Good beginning and you can make it from here. You'll shake the weight and in the meantime you've given your family the gift of your lifetime.

20. Congratulations!!! You have every right to be proud!!
.
.
.
So similar to my path -- after 30 years of smoking and up to 3 packs a day,
I successfully quit cold turkey (1998 -- still smoke-free).
.
.
I've had serious health issues (duh) and virtually the first question asked
in each interview/history is "Do you smoke?"
.
.
Quitting is probably THE biggest and best thing you will ever do for your
body.
.
.
I shudder to think how much worse my conditions would have been and how much
earlier they would have started.
.
.
.
Good for you. EXCELLENT for you.
