Why, Dick Cheney? Why did you have to ruin Opening Day?
Edited on Mon Apr-05-04 01:29 PM by VolcanoJen
Yes, the time has come for my favorite National Holiday, Cincinnati's Opening Day! My beloved Reds are back on the ballfield, the fans lined up for the Findlay Market Parade, it's a beautiful, sunny day.

And then Dick Cheney has to throw out the first pitch.

Also, check out the flags they put at every seat:

I don't like to see my favorite game get hijacked by jingoism and phony, unelected leaders. I thought we wrapped all of that up last season. :grr: It just puts a damper on the whole thing, which is about springtime, and baseball, and hot dogs, and cute men in tight pants. What a bunch of crap.

on edit: Can you believe I left out that Nick fuckin' Lachey sang the National Anthem?!??

/rant

Oh, well... Play Ball!!

46. The RESIDENTS of the CITY of St Louis may not be pro
Bush but rest assured those in the stands at Busch Stadium gave him a fond welcome. I have noticed that many hardcord sports fans are conservative and/or Republican. What is it about sports that causes someone to be so conservative?

7. No, worse.
"Great American Ballpark" opened last season. It's like a nothing-park. No character, no color, all-white.

Kinda reminscent of the city which surrounds it, I suppose. So in that sense, it fits.

It's different for sure. I know what ball park I'm looking at immediately when I see it.

St. Louis is building a new stadium, too. I kinda like Busch with all the arches around the top. But, maybe the new joint will be nice. I hear that most of the seats will have views of the real arch, which is cool.

This is almost worse than Crash Cart throwing out the opening pitch, but just almost.

I am so sorry to read this.

$10 says that * isn't brave enough to show up at Safeco Field. The booing would be deafening. (Ask PayRod how much he likes playing in Seattle these days.)

In the meantime, it's BASEBALL SEASON! YAAAAAAY!
