Edited on Mon Apr-05-04 02:32 PM by jpgray
I would pick (for the idealistic optimism):

'Wouldn't it Be Nice?' - Beach Boys

b/w (for the fire-eating)

'I Wanna Destroy You' - Soft Boys

:D

11. If I hear that song one more time I'll scream
Only because she sang it at every protest I've been to.

But it is a good song

12. Hey! Us rubes on the prairies never get visited by Her Highness.
So we do not tire of it.

Now 'Because The Night' is a different story, that I've heard enough.

6. "On Your Way Down" by Stabbing Westward
Edited on Mon Apr-05-04 02:35 PM by sirjwtheblack
Lyrics:
I hope I see you on your way down
I hope you break every bone
I hope it kills you on your way down
And I hope you die alone
All of your hate and all of your lies
Will it be worth it?
When all of your friends refuse to be alibis
Will it be worth it?

I'll see you on your way down
I'll see you on your way down
I'll see you on your way down

It's kind of sad to watch you break down
You greedy fuck you pissed it all away
So who will catch you on your way down?
You've only got yourself to blame

When all your worst fears materialize
Will it be worth it?
There's nobody left who cares you're alive
Was it worth it?

I'll see you on your way down

Edit: Punctuation

Edited on Mon Apr-05-04 02:52 PM by rainy
Come senators, congressmen, please head the call
Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be her that has stalled
The battle outside ragging
will soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times, they are a changing

18. Things Can Only Get Better by Howard Jones
I think "Stayin' Alive" would be funny or "I Want You To Want Me" by Cheap Trick would also crack me up.

"What The World Is Waiting For" by The Stone Roses
"Here comes the wise man, There goes the fool...."

Seriously, "Beautiful Day" by U2 would be great (did one of the Dem candidates use it already?) or "Takin It To The Streets" by The Doobie Brothers. Or maybe "In A Big Country" by Big Country

"Peace Train" by Cat Stevens for Kucinich

Or....if Bush wins again, then:
"It's The End Of The World As We Know It" by REM

19. New Song by Howard Jones
ok, I'm on a HJ kick, but I didn't realize his songs were so meaningful:

I've been waiting for so long
To come here now and sing this song
Don't be fooled by what you see
Don't be fooled by what you hear

This is a song to all my friends
They take the challenge to their hearts
Challenging preconceived ideas
Saying goodbye to long standing fears

Don't crack up
Bend your brain
See both sides
Throw off your mental chains

I don't wanna be hip and cool
I don't wanna play by the rules
Not under the thumb of the cynical few
Or laden down by the doom crew

20. "Small Town", the slow version by John Cougar Mellencamp.
I can see Dennis Kucinich effectively using this song. This is about the heart of a community that gives an individual an identity and a sense of belonging. As I've grown older, my hometown has lost its spark and the new neighbors are not interested in getting to known anyone or participating in community activities like the volunteer ambulance corp. or girl scouts. This song would be a reminder of what we could return to if we started to believe in working together instead of against each other.

21. Morrissey - "Interesting Drug"
There are some bad, bad people on the right
There are some bad, bad people on the right
They're saving their own skins by
ruining people's lives
Bad, bad people on the right
Young married couple in debt,
Ever felt had?
A government scheme designed to kill your dreams
Poor mum, poor dad
Once poor, always poor
La la la la la

24. Simply the Best!!!!
THE BEST Lyrics
Artist(Band):Tina Turner

THE BEST Lyrics

i call you, when i need you my hearts on fire
You come to me, come to me, wild and wild

You come to me, give me everything i need
Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams
speak the language of love like you know what it means
And it can't be wrong, take my heart and make it strong, baby

chorus:
You're simply the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone, anyone
i've ever met!
I'm stuck on your heart, i hang on every word you say
tear us apart, baby i would rather be dead

In your heart i see the start of every night and every day
in your eyes, i get lost, i get washed away
just as long as i'm here in your arms i could be in no better place...

Chorus:
You're simply the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone, anyone
i've ever met!
I'm stuck on your heart, i hang on every word you say
tear us apart, baby i would rather be dead

It's the time you leave me i start losing control, you're walking away with my
heart and my soul, i can feel you even when i'm alone, oh baby don't let go!

and your the best, better than all the rest, better than anyone, anyone i've
ever met!
I'm stuck on your heart, i hang on every word you say
tear us apart, baby i would rather be dead, ooh you're the best!
