was debating and debating, but had some airline coupons that were about to burn, so i guess i go.

2. Not me, but I'd be interested in a low-priced
editor for .pdf files, especially if it came with some documentation and was easy to use.

4. Yes, documents.
I'm not familiar with Open Office.

Wikipedia has an article on Open Office, according to which it can export .pdf files, but lots of software can do that.

What I would like to be able to do is
    1. make changes to a .pdf file, or
    2. copy part of a .pdf file into the "clipboard" (on my Mac).

Open Office may be able to do what I want, but that isn't obvious from the Wikipedia article.

5. i realize it violates your first requirement of cheap
but illustrator opens anything.
