My passive aggressive relatives can beat your passive aggressive relatives any day of the week!
So, it's been a joke (but not really a joke) for 30 years that my husband is the bad son because he married and left home. Now, husband is overseas working when we get the news that my MIL is in the hospital. Things don't look good. The next day, my husband gets up at 5AM his time and spends the next 2 hours trying to call his folks to get an update. Then he calls me and asks me to keep calling and let him know what's going on; he has to go to work. I call every half hour for the next three hours and finally get through - to an answering machine. I hang up and dial again 10 minutes later and finally get a person. The line was tied up all evening because BIL 1 was playing around on the internet. (They still have dial up because it's cheaper than broadband.) BIL 2 answers the phone and tells me that my MIL is still in the hospital, but he doesn't know anything else because he was at work all day.

It gets better - my son had been calling trying to get an update on his grandmother. He got through about 10 minutes after I did. Not only did he not get any more info than me, but he got chided for calling so late - it was 9:15 after all!

going to 50th anniversary get together in NO over thanksgiving. with a promise we are not taking kids... KIDS down bourbon street during the day and last night i found out all three nights restaurants for dinner on bourbon street. instead of one dressup night thanksgiving, i have to have slacks, dress shoes, button up shirts (they can wear dads ties) for three nights and now told kids have to wear "nice jeans and knit shirts" to walk around town. rollin eyes.

didnt know the last 17 yrs kids didnt dress appropriately. tshirt and jeans or shorts kinda guys. none of us dress up. buy all these clothes for one wear. they always wear their nicest tshirts/shorts/jeans

but are required to dress nicely while in town?

3. they are taking everyone
out to the restaurants. we have a couple 10 yr olds in the group. i dont get it at all. couple 13 and 16 yr old girls and same age boys.... i cannot imagine this large group, and all these kids, walking down bourbon street at night to hit a restaurant. i havent been there, but i hear it is not a place for kids. even in the day.

AND dress up to walk around town. lol.

4. Wait til you see the hordes in NO wearing tank tops and flip-flops. Nobody,
unless you are eating at the most expensive restaurant in town, dresses for dinner. It's come as you are -- NO restaurants love the color of your money. What you're wearing? Who cares?

5. having never been there, i really did not have an argument, but common sense, lol
i told hubby and he says... well she wants us dressed for when we go somewhere for lunch. i am being told that ALL restaurants require dress. i am no fool. i know better.

and having absolutely no passive in my aggressiveness, i can really do it quite well. so every restaurant we are in and i see jeans, shorts, tank tops... oh lookie, shorts jeans ttops. lol
