Anyone here regret the "Smartphone"?
I liked the idea of a Palm Pilot - had one for many years. Had a Handspring too.

Loved cell phones too.

However, the joining of the two, even if you get the best of the best, still makes you go through too much shit just to make a fucking call.

They need to be separated.

Dammit!

1. I love my iPhone and I'd kill any of you here if it told me to do so.

2. Yes, but not for the same reason.
I pretty much only use data-services...I never make or accept phone calls so I regret my two-year contract for 400 minutes a month when I'm only using <40 minutes. If I could scale-down my minutes, I'd scale up my data to unlimited, meet my needs better and pay exactly what I pay now.

Think the phone company would agree to that? Fuck No.

3. I don't use it much either
Usually screen all calls, listen to the messages.

4. I've stayed as far away as possible from palm pilots, blackberries and smart phones. My capacity to
learn some new fangled technology is nill right now.

5. Love my iphone
I work a full time job and manage two part time businesses on the side, my band and my recording studio biz. Having the capabilities it has in my pocket, at my fingertips has been invaluable. It's paid for itself over and over already simply because of the connectivity if offers to so many avenues of communication at once. Ive closed deals at some really odd times in some unusual places. :)

6. But what about when an important phone call comes in?
Let's just say you're layers deep in something else. Or let's just say your phone is not acting at its best?

And you miss the call.

No fault of your own.

9. I answer it
It really hasn't been a problem , so far as a phone, its been about as good as the other phones I've had. I'll answer the call and whatever I was working on will be there when I get back. No problem.

The other night I was talking to a couple of my band members on yahoo chat when a booking agent called about a gig. I put the agent on speaker, went back to yahoo chat and asked the band members of the date was good for them and if the money was ok. They responded affirmitave, I told the agent to go ahead and book the gig and the deal was done , no problem.

7. I still have no idea what it is
Still don't know what a blackberry or palm pilot or any of that stuff is. I just use my cell phone as a phone. I love it that 99.9% of the time it just sits there ignoring me while I ignore it.

I've never been a big fan of a telephone. Useful, but I much prefer it when it sits there doing nothing and being silent.
