I want to throttle the american viewing public
the whole lot of them . . . and so do you, right? . . . I want to wipe it out in one sweeping merciful holocaust . . . who are these mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, tongue scraping ass violins who suspect me of plotting against the U.S. of Whatever????????? why must it present a wellspring of troubles and groundless suspicions that i'm indo-arabic, and wear a beard because i find it fashionable????????? it's grown increasingly obvious i'm not welcome here. 1st & 2nd generation immigrants from South Asia, alas, are but flotsam on a sinking ship it would seem! why can't i shout it across the rooftops, "America has hit the crapper and I couldnt be more pleased!" and after all, what is it to me??? my poor old man can't even buy fertilizer without getting dirty looks from some baby making bourgeois penny pinching info-sponge. my dear old mother who was too gentle to subject me to corporal punishment when i did deserve it! even she cannot step outside without attracting stupid looks that off-duty patriots always seem to wear? i was born here, damn it, and my dad loves this country more than any . . . ANY candy-assed whitebread blue light special terrorist cell infiltrating shitassed son of a bitch. government for the people! by the people! ok! sounds great! don't make me puke! i can't stand it! should i just pack my bags and kindly shove off? now THAT"S an idea!

you be the jury

1. Don't go
We need you and your mom and dad more than ever. Don't despair on the whole country because of the shit-ass bigots and scoundrels hiding behind vomit-inducing "patriotism." If we lose this country, nowhere on Earth will be safe.

8. Over here in Europe...
we don't hate Americans (of whatever colour or ethnic origin) or America, just the moron running the country. Believe me, back here in the '80s we had the evil hag Thatcher who did exactly what Bush is doing to you - started a war to distract attention away from her nasty little right wing dealings, started to gag the press, take away personal freedoms etc. and waved the dirty flag of Patriotism to brand anyone who disagreed with her as being an enemy of the country. And it did work, as it's working with the US. It works because fear takes hold and the half-witted part of the population soaks all this crap up and looks around for someone to spew it all out over. But it will end. The day Thatcher was dumped she cried and we cheered. You will do the same when your cretinous President is out of a job and forced to scrape a living sitting on the boards of numerous corporations in an advisory capacity and having to get by on only a couple of million a year.

7. ass violins?
very nice insult. I like that a lot. May I use it elsewhere? Im sure TIm McVeigh didnt get dirty looks when he bought fertilizer. Im not going to apologize for what Freepers did do you and your family, although it is grossly unfair. Many here want to see them wiped of the planet , much the same as you do. Please dont lump me in with them. ok?
Also, I have been told by the types you mention, to move to France, I dont know how many times. I wish I could, believe me. Johnny Depp has the right idea. If freepers would pay for me to move to France, I would gleefully go.

12. use it wisely!

it's a translation of an old german insult, arschgeige

the wind whispers through the willows . . . arschgeige . . .

i'm not in any way lumping you or any DU'er in with their lot, and I hope there wasn't any misunderstanding. i've no reason to hurl accusations of xenophobia at any poster here, though i find it a little comical when indians are dismissed as utterly, utterly incompetent because they have incidentally "stolen" american IT jobs. but uh, it's a fact of human nature, that unemployment & hardship trumps the great virtue of tolerance, so i don't see the point in arguing. besides, wages there are steadily rising, so eventually outsourcing won't seem as attractive to a lot of these cheapskate infotech companies. also i seem to have cooled off after five or six hours.

and you know, the thing is, these arent freepers, this isnt some fringe element of american culture. these are people like you and me, they work alongside you and me, theyre unavoidable, and THEY'RE WATCHING YOU EVERY MOVE, the shitheels.

my parents moved here 30 years ago, when most indian and middle-eastern emigres came as skilled professionals, not as logs sitting behind gas station counters or the VCR repairmen who make their meager fortunes from money laundering. actually that's probably how your neighborhood gas station clerk Raju Patel finances his summer home landscaping projects. the point is, my parents vote, pay taxes, observe the speed limit, and breed butterflies for fun. they deserve a little respect, ESP by virtue of their origins. me? i deserve the same respect to which any natural born citizen is entitled (i suppose that isn't very much at all)

13. Could you leave the violins out of it?
With all due respect and deepest condolences for your plight.

I haven't taught all that many students in the 30 years I've been teaching the violin. Mostly I perform. But of the ones I've had, a substantial number of them were of Indian ancestry. They were always enthusiastic students and several paid for their own lessons by babysitting for my kids. And they were as attentive to the task of taking care of my boys as they were to their violins, or their schoolwork.

It makes me ill to think that these good people are now suspect for no reason save the shade of their skin or their unusual name. I'm sorry, Mahayasmellbad. I'm sorry that people can be such assholes.

16. I would love to hear him play.
One of our local educational channels plays Indian music videos on Sundays. Any chance of seeing your dad in one?

And I'll bet your work ethic is as admirable as anybody's. :)

viz., it is not very admirable at all, ha ha. and as for my dad, violin is more a gentleman's activity for him. he plays for us but that's the extent of his performance. he's very good though, and he's played for most of his life.

It's pathetic that people act this way. That said, keep on going, and hang around DU that much more. Some days it'll drive you crazy. That's when you come to the lounge and become one with your yak. Or whatever. Hug for you.
