Witnessed an accident tonight on my way home... |
|
Woman ran her car into a bridge. I called 911 and she pulled away from the bridge and started driving. Front of the car was crumpled. Squad came up and pulled her over. Officer just called me to inform me that she was OK and was not drunk but she was texting while driving.
What is really that important that you'd be texting at 1:00 in the morning while driving?
Sheesh.

I wish people who get in accidents while texting or talking on the phone should have their messages taken for the public record and publicized. Sometimes people are killed by such texters.

2. wow, so not only did she crash while texting, but she tried to drive with a busted car? |
|
She could've deposited metal and other scrap on the road while driving away that could've led to flat tires on other cars.
She should have her license suspended for that bullshit.

4. If she were in Georgia, you can bet there will be a ticket |
|
and a fine. Georgia outlawed texting while driving last year and a hefty fine if you are caught. But glad the lady wasn't hurt.

7. very unusual for an officer to call the person who called 911 and reported the accident |
|
I have reported several accidents/possible drunk drivers and nobody ever called me to tell me the details afterwards.

8. I thought it was unusual, too... |
|
My only guess is that they called me because of what I said to the 911 operator. Since they did not flash their lights at her (which the operator asked me) I assumed (wrongly) that they had not seen her. He explained that they had seen her and that they didn't flash the lights because she pulled over.
But, yeah, I thought it was weird, too. I was glad to know that she wasn't hurt, though.

5. Those damn bridges. They need to move those farther away from the road. |

9. Or replace them with bridges that move. |
|
That way, you can see the movements and stay on course: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-zczJXSxnw:P
