Well, at least I think I did
They want me to lower my hourly pay, which is fine
But for a certain job I was supposed to deliver a product demo today
I did, and made it
This was tough, because every person in the room was playing a "role"
And each role was designed to catch me off guard
And I didn't crash under pressure
I wasn't the best
But I didn't crash
So now I get to start
They say I need a lot of "work"
Fine
They will provide that work
At this point it is all about pay
And I am willing to lowball, for the opportunity
Maybe I'm playing this wrong
But, Japanese company, Japanese rules
It is what it is

An airline. In my experience, they don't negotiate. The offer is the offer, and the deal is the deal. Even if they're in a poor bargaining position and you think you're holding the best hand. Hard headed. PM me if you want to talk. I'd like to hear more particulars. I am the soul of discretion. Honestly.

My aviation career ended because I thought they would HAVE to accept the (modest and very reasonable) change to my contract. I misunderestimated them. They didn't. If Tokyo HQ didn't invent it, it didn't exist.
You'd think I would have known better after 10 years experience with the culture. What the hell, I was worn out and ready to hang it up at age 58 anyway. That was 12 years ago, and I'm content. Life goes on.
Best of luck. trof
