Poll question: Will I be clipped in the head by falling NASA debris?
By: Scott Hollifield
Published: September 24, 2011
NASA says there is little chance a falling chunk of flaming satellite will hit me in the noggin, but, if it does, I can’t keep it as a souvenir or sell it on eBay ... http://www2.starexponent.com/news/2011/sep/24/will-i-be-clipped-head-falling-nasa-debris-ar-1332845/

4. Went outside and looked for it about an hour ago

Didn't see it.

The old research spacecraft was targeted to crash through the atmosphere sometime Friday night or early today, putting Canada, Africa and Australia in the potential cross hairs, although most of the satellite should burn up during re-entry. The United States wasn't entirely out of the woods; the possible strike zone skirted Washington state.

In its ever-lower orbit, UARS apparently flipped position and stalled its death plunge.

"It just doesn't want to come down," said Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.

5. Government property maybe, but there's a strong argument to be made that
it's been abandoned. I mean, whenever someone lets me fall to earth from a very high altitude I get that feeling.
