I just got the prettiest little "Bogie" kittie, a little Siamese showshoe cat with the biggest blue eyes and yellowish-brown fur, and purrs like a dragnet, with pointed lovely tabby markings and a cobby head like on old-school Stamese and bright blue eyes.
God, I miss my Gideon, but....this is an exquisiste match of beauty and brain, and my Gidi is old and now so am I, and he deserves the last best days as he can have them, not shlepping around as best as he can have them with a crumbling old corn-maze like me.

8. More diluted points, and pale outlining of tabby stripes on his body, sparkling blue eyes |
|
White feet (the "snow" in "snowhsoe"). He came from the SPCA Rescue in Largo, despite "showshoe siamese" being considered a rarity.

A huge factor here is that I have gotten Gideon into a great large parrot retirement facility, where he can learn to be a real bird...and as long as I am alive, I can visit whenever I want and get updates on his progress in learning to flock, to make bird friends and be who he might have been if his ancestors had never been pulled from the wild.
My relatives, as much as I love them, cannot provide Gideon with bird-appropriate care in perpetuity because...they are older than me, and my aunt is an ornithophobe. That would not end well...
However, they can and will look after Bogie after I'm gone. Cats are in the game plan for them, just not doom-chickens.
And yeah, I am missing Gidi terribly already.
I hate dying. I'm still scared of it, too.

Hope you and your "Bogie" have many great years together. Here's a story I wrote about Bogie several years ago about him and his favorite toy, a stuffed shark I got at a dollar store: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x3925284
