Why does my dog keep pushing her ball underneath the sofa?

So far today, we've been through the ~20-minute long cycle about 5 times: she chases the ball around, chews on it a few minutes, pushes it under the sofa where she can't reach it, digs at the carpet until she gets frustrated, then barks at me to get it out for her so she can play with it more.

Now she's at the digging stage again.

1. Because, with that sweet face, she knows that she can... and get
away with it. :) My dog does this and I really think it's either 1. for attention 2. mental stimulation. She's adorable.

4. When it comes down to a question about a dog and his balls...
.
.
.
... the answer is always "because he can".

Duh.

5. It's an intelligence test ...
... and apparently, you failed. She wants you to either get a lower sofa, or a larger ball.

8. I don't know,
but mine does the same thing. He has about 6 tennis balls lined up, but if one of them rolls under the couch, he goes nutz. I swear he can count.

11. Mine does the same thing. With every tennis ball he gets, though, he chews off the
fuzzy layer until it's bald. Then, when he picks it up in his mouth to tease us, it *pops* out of his mouth making a funny popping sound.
