Tonight was easily one of the best 10 minutes of baseball I've seen in my life. |
|
Yeah my Angels blew it, but the Yankees lose on a walk off, Boston loses in a walk off and the Rays win the wild card. Enjoy it Rays fans. :toast:

2. It was fuckin' beautiful |
|
Gerardi puts the B Squad out there after five to stick it to the Bosox. I don't think this guy will ever lose his job in NY.
Douchebag Papelbon in utter fail. Red Sox manage to surpass even the pathetic 2007 Mets for worst late season collapse in baseball history.
Pretty much perfect all the way around.

3. The best baseball I've seen in my life was the Sidewinders (Arizona Diamondback's AAA team). |
|
. . . Those boys ALL wanted to get noticed and make the bigs... so they all played as though, compared to them and their drive and intensity, Pete Rose was an effete poser. . . . . That level of ballplaying PALES in relation to the only T-ball game I've ever seen. Those kids were AMAZING in their intensity and their excitement. There would be time enough to develop skills -- they got the chance to experience ACHIEVEMENT -- and, for a little while... they were superstars. . Such a cool, cool thing to see. . . .

5. NO! No Yankees - Red Sox playoffs? Call me a waaambulance! |
|
The best rivalry in all of sports ever.
How can any baseball fan (other than a Rays fan) possibly be happy about this terrible tragedy? Waaaaa!

15. Remember when Grady Little didn't pull Pedro in the 8th inning during |
|
the 7th game of the 2003 ALCS? Posada then doubled and tied the game, and later Boone hit that walkoff homer in the 11th. It was awesome. It doesn't get any better than that for a Yankees fan.
I love baseball, and I love watching the Yankees play the Sox, especially in the playoffs.
That's why I'm not real happy about the Sox getting knocked out.

7. Behind what? The end of Game 6 of the '86 Series? |
|
Or the end of the 2001 Series? :grr:
Two months ago I was looking forward to the first expansion-free postseason in years. Now two of the Johnny Jumpups sleaze in. :banghead:

8. One of the best nights of baseball ever. |
|
I figured the Yanks would win in a walk after Texiera's granny, but the Rays just refused to die. And only the Sox (yes I know the Curse is dead) could manage to do with they did this month. Though the Curse may be broken, weird karma still follows the Sawx around.
It wasn't as good as Game 7 of the 1991 World Series but nothing else will ever be as good as that game.
The Cards and the Rays head into the postseason with those "destiny's darling" vibes about them.

So even those of us who are clearly not major league baseball fans had something to enjoy.

13. The Spankees had a motive for sandbagging |
|
Letting TB win meant the Sox wouldn't win the wild card, which means the Spankees won't have to face them in the playoffs.

had nothing to do with the Red Sox blowing a lead in the 9th. Or for the Red Sox collapse in September. Keep believing what you want if it helps you sleep at night.
