Ever thought you'd want to live through an apocalyptic event? No, not like what's happening now. |
|
I mean, like a horrendous epidemic (as in Earth Abides and The Stand), an extinction level event, such as a comet hitting the earth (as in Lucifer's Hammer), a zombie/undead apocalypse (as in World War Z, I Am Legend).
I used to think I'd like to live though a horrendous epidemic as in Earth Abides. Now, I don't think so. I might not be able to get my meds and dental care of any sort might be impossible to obtain.

1. Umm, no. But I do like those kinds of books and movies though. |

Alas, Babylon and On the Beach. I'm a normally cheery person but I love apocalyptic movies (2012, War of the Worlds - old and new, etc.) but The Road was too bleak for me. However to answer the OP -- I'm not brave enough and don't have any survival skills for a real life catastrophe.

2. No thanks. Such things are OK strictly as fiction... |

but as far as I'm concerned, the Chinese were quite accurate when they used as a curse: 'May you live in interesting times!'
The present times are more than interesting enough for me.
