Wow! "The Office" is Terrible without Steve Carrell |
|
Absolutely awful. The way the show is constructed. Michael Scott is the idiot, and everyone else, for the most part, were his straight people. And, that formula work.
Now, it's like everyone is trying too hard to be the funny idiot, and that is just killing the show.
NBC should really just cancel the show.

1. I agree, The Office should've ended for good last season. |
|
Or they could have continued with Dwight being a temporary manager while the "new" manager was yet to be revealed - that would have been a good send off! The episode where Dwight was the manager was probably one of the best of season 7.

2. They're Trying to Make It An Esemble Show |
|
Which it really isn't. The show is supposed to work as: (1) Michael Scott is funny. (2) Dwight is funny. (4) Jim is sarcastic. (3) Everyone else plays it straight.

6. I like Will Ferrell but the episodes he did on the Office were just plain awful. |

4. The episode with Dwight as manager was my favorite, too. |
|
The Dwight vs. Jim chemistry is the strength of the show. Dwight's need to feel superior works so well with Jim's playful way of undermining Dwight, I thought the writers would've given Jim a treasure trove of practical jokes to play on Dwight as the almighty manager.
The new manager is a flop so far. He hasn't added anything to the show; in fact, it's flat; so unworthy of such a great cast.

3. I felt like after a year or so "the office" was the same jokes |
|
being told over and over and over and over again. But, maybe that's what sitcoms are. One thing I'm pretty sure of and that is no show can stay interesting after about 5 years.

5. I thought "The Office" without Ricky Gervais wouldn't work... |
|
... I disliked the US version at first, but I grew into it. So, I'm giving this "new" post-Carrell version a shot.
In addition to the UK and US verstion, "The Office" now has French, French Canadian, German, Chilean, and Isreali versions. Steve Carrell is awesome, but he is not the secret ingredient for this franchise.... IMHO.

I went into this season with my guard up, but I've enjoyed the eps so far. I miss Steve Carrell, of course, but I think it's doing just fine.
