Teen idol to leading man? |
|
My friend and I are kicking around names of men who were really cute when they were 15 and became really ordinary when they got older, men who were goofy looking when they were 15 and became hot when they got older, and men who were cute when they were 15 and stayed cute.
My theory is that most boy idols have full, pouting lips, small noses, and wide eyes, and that when they get older, these feminine features usually don't work well on men with adult hairlines, jawlines, and general facial structure.
The only grown actor that I can think of who rocks the "boy idol" features is Brad Pitt.
Other names that we were bandying about are Robert Pattinson, Justin Beiber, Fred Savage, Leonardo di Caprio, Neil Patrick Harris, Ricky Schroeder, and Justin Timberlake, but there was some disagreement over whether these men have improved with age and whether or not they have the looks to be cast in a leading role today.
Any thoughts?

Now sure about leading man, but he's kept his boyish good looks.
di Caprio is the one that best fits the bill imho. Well, and Brad Pitt, of course.

2. Rob Lowe is a good call |

I don't think diCaprio has aged well, but my friend disagrees and thinks he's better looking now than he was 15 years ago.

that he was in the 80's.
Which is a whole different thread: men at 30 vs. men at 60. :D

I didn't think he was all that until after ER, which I never watched, by the way.

12. In Titanic it was like he wasn't quite used to being 6ft tall yet. |
|
Still had a little of that element of kid about him.
