1. Wedding? Wedding dance?
I didn't have a wedding. I eloped and was married by a justice of the peace in Georgia.

6. I'm a musician, I've done hundreds of weddings, and at our wedding 21 years ago I had
two jazz guitarists, very little dancing, and a fairly brief affair.

We wanted to get to the afterparty!

The afterparty, where we commandeered a local restaurant and pub, and did dinner, drinks and dance-based stupidity until the wee hours. My sis was a local hotel manager, and found a local restaurant to host 40+ people for after-hours dinner and debauchery. It was almost Arthurian - huge table, flowing drink, crazy-attentive waitstaff, table dancing. We crashed at about 3:30 (we had to catch a 7:30 flight to Bermuda), and when we headed out at 6:30 a.m., the remnants of the afterparty (about 20 or so) were still going strong in one of the hotel suites.

7. Didn't have a production; about 12 people and a judge, then dinner at a nice restaurant.

8. Didn't have a wedding dance.
Edited on Tue Oct-04-11 05:40 PM by The Velveteen Ocelot
Just a sedate reception in the church basement. Which was fine with me; I can't dance, and neither could my now-ex.

19. congratulations to you and Lisa!!
I am sure it will be a lovely affair

now remember I got married a LONG time ago. The first one was quite a bash, the second one was JOP with strangers for witnesses.

The first dance was to (gah) Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - Time Of My Life

and then it went straight to (this is when other couples joined on the dance floor) Two Tickets To Paradise - Eddie Money (gah, again!)

hokey, I know but, we had a blast of a reception :)

18. Unforgettable by Nat and Natalie Cole.

We treated it like a decoration rather than an intensely personal song. It was really lovely to dance with her to it.

24. "Up Where We Belong" from the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman"
That movie was one of our first outings as a couple, so it was a sentimental choice. I don't regret it being our first dance song, but if I had a do-over, I'd have selected "You're Looking Like Love to Me" by Roberta Flack and Peabo Bryson.

We chose 'Warm Love' by Van Morrison because my husband sang it to me one drunken night when he realized he was in love with me and it makes me smile :)
