I have one screwy cat.
Charlotte.

When she purrs, she rumbles.

But when she meows for food, she "murrs."

The only time she meows is when I hold up a toy, right before tossing it so Charlotte can chase it, "kill" it, and bring it back for another toss.

:loveya:

1. Pixie doesn't usually meow, either.
She has a huge repertoire of trills, chirps, hums and squeaks, but she doesn't meow unless she really wants something right now, or I've stepped on her tail.

4. aw! One of ours used to fetch!
I think we didn't practice it enough with him.. he'll still do it sometimes, but not like when he was littler.

She's beautiful. I want a calico again someday :loveya:

5. One of our Calicos just squeaks. Tiny little peep of a sound.
The other one snarls like Edward G. Robinson.
I love calico girls.

10. The Calico cat I grew up with had no voice at all.
She also had no tail, just a tuft of fur, and my grandmother said she must be part Manx. She was such a pretty cat, long-haired and tiny, and she'd open her mouth to vocalize, but no sound would come out...

6. My dearly departed old man would meyawn.
He was the only cat I ever met that made sound effects when he yawned. I miss his meyawning, and I miss him.

8. You only have one screwy cat? Why not three?
After all, cats are like potato chips: you can't have just one.

11. I do have another cat, Lucky.
But she's not screwy like Charlotte, just super-affectionate. :loveya:

9. those look like some powerful hind legs
I never really noticed that on a cat before until I got my most recent a couple of years ago, and found her on top of cabinets, mantles, balanced on the backs of chairs, etc. She goes from zero to 60 in a second, and usually goes up as opposed to running along the ground. When I took her to the vet when I first got her, the vet told me I had a "jumper" on my hands. He said this based on her hind legs. That's why I ask...

Also, does she let you pick her up? My last cat was far more docile and loved to be held. The one I have now, she likes being nearby, but snuggling and being held is another story, so far.

At any rate, that's one gorgeous kitty you got there.

12. Thanks.
Both my cats love being snuggled, but only when they want to. (Naturally.) :-)

Charlotte is a typical cat, can jump 15 feet straight up and give me the "What's the big deal?" look.

13. We used to call that sound a "querbl".
Back in college, we determined that Querbl was a fully-fledged dialect of Cat.

She is one lovely querbl, too.
