My 16 yoa son is currently in a Psychiatric facility after a suicide attempt. This has been a very difficult couple of years for him, and I am currently questioning everything I am as a Man and Father..I would appreciate anything you could send his way..Thanks

It's natural for the parents to beat themselves up; try not to do that. Adolescent years can be torturous & males seem to keep everything in, finding it difficult to express how they feel. Being a teenager is very difficult sometimes. It's confusing, it's heartbreaking, and it's often cruel.

I tried to commit suicide when I was 14. It was a difficult time for me...for many reasons. The least of which were my parents. They were strong and stood by me. Never made me feel "bad" for what I did, but did everything they could to help, and they never "made light" of what I considered life ending issues. If it was important to me, it was important to them.

I'm sure you're doing the same thing. Just be there when he asks/needs you, and he will need you.

My children are all adults...I've had to read this many times.
They have made choices, and have been inflicted with pain...
They have walked in darkness while I followed...
We can't assume responsibility for everything....
He's young...life will come together.
I believe...and have faith in both of you.
