X-Men: First Class (spoilers) |
|
I finally watched it on DVD last night - pretty good movie overall. I had somewhat low expectations for it given that it is kind of a reboot. I've also forgotten X-Men canon over the years since it's been about 20 years since I actively collected comics.
But, I thought the two leads playing Charles Xavier & Magneto were very good in their roles, considering they had to fill huge shoes in Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart from the previous movies.
I think they played too much with history by having the Russians & Americans instantly united against mutants minutes after the Cuban Missile Crisis and to then bombard the mutants on the beach in Cuba with missiles and cannon fire from the ships.
I didn't recognize Kevin Bacon in the beginning of the movie, but he played his evil part well. The two women - Jennifer Lawrence as young Mystique and January Jones as Emma Frost - were both very attractive and did well with their roles, too.

1. My husband and I watched it last weekend -- thought it was pretty good |
|
-- at the very least, entertaining.
I've never followed the comic-sphere but enjoyed this movie. I also thought the US/Soviet reaction to bomb the beach was stupid, but heck, it's Hollywood, what do you expect?
