Sometimes contacting people that once had a special place in your heart
is not only anti-climactic it's just plain disappointing. Finding out that someone you have kept in your heart for one reason or another thinks the president is a Muslim and has some of the makings of a teabagger is just sad. That's all. I guess it doesn't change what we had, when we had it but it sure spoils the excitement of reconnecting.

1. Sometimes people aren't at all what you thought they were.

2. My date to the senior prom turned out to be a wingnut.
I was madly "in love" with him my entire freshman year of college. I lost track of him until I saw a LTTE that he wrote in the local newspaper! What a disappointment.

3. I guess sometimes it's best to keep the past the past.
But he seemed opened to listening to what I had to say, maybe it is my turn to give him some lessons! He was the "older man" I was once totally infatuated with. Always considered him one of the important ones. We shall see, he could just be completely misinformed and needs some schooling. I gotta try. I always try. Until the Glen Beck quotes start flying then it's DELETE!DELETE!DELETE!

5. It seems a good time to post this: Anyone ever feel this way about an ex?
"Clennam's eyes no sooner fell upon the subject of his old passion than it shivered and broke to
pieces"

(In Dickens' LITTLE DORRIT, Arthur Clennam sees the love of his youth for the first time in twenty years.)

(snip)

"Flora, always tall, had grown to be very broad too, and short of breath; but that was not much. Flora, whom he had left a lily, had become a peony; but that was not much. Flora, who had seemed enchanting in all she said and thought, was diffuse and silly. That was much. Flora, who had been spoiled and artless long ago, was determined to be spoiled and artless now. That was a fatal blow."
