Nothing like sitting in a waiting room at a birthing hospital clinic - |
|
Waiting for the arrival of the first grandchild. Of course, the contractions really started to kick in around 0300 in the morning...
Kidlet and her young Dude are in triage, waiting to find out if it's early/false labor or the real thing. Her mom was only four hours in labor with her, so we might be welcoming the arrival of Amelia (still figuring out a middle name) by seven or seven thirty. Laz was diagnosed with walking pneumonia due to the stress of the move yesterday (of course),so not only will I be doing the errands, he isn't able to have much interaction with his daughter or first grandchild for another week. :( Kidlet's mom (his ex) just flew into town yesterday, so once we get conformation it's the real thing, the young Dude will (hopefully) call Laz and his mom, so all the grandmothers will be contacted and head over/be picked up. Or he'll come running down to me and I'll end up calling everyone.
Anyway, I think I'll get some homework done while I'm waiting.
(Yawn) Damn, no bathrooms or ge-dunk machines on the first floor. At least they have guest wireless internet.

I'm chilling in a corner with some tea doing "telework" and running the occasional errand so I can keep out of the way of chaos of the Kidlet, the ex and her mother, the Dude's female relatives, and all the others who can't go up to the second floor until she actually gets admitted into the hospital. She's still considered in "triage"(only one visitor allowed) because she hasn't gotten to 4.5 inches yet and the water hasn't broken. Close, but no cigar yet. Maybe by 1000. Laz had to go back home to lay down and rest. Kidlet and Dude want me to bring back a Playstation 3 setup so they can hook into a monitor and play Dead Island while they're waiting for the baby - she really wants to kill something right now and is in no mood for the cooing from her mother and maybe-later-in-laws.
I'll go pick Laz up as soon as they officially admit her. I think by then, the desire for the Playstation will be long gone.

On edit - well, she's going home, because she's not dialating quick enough. Early labor, we have to keep an eye on her, and probably sometime tonight. Most likely late tonight...
I'm heading back to work after dropping everyone off.
