I had the weirdest earworm yesterday - Couldn't get "My Darling Clemetine" out of my head |
|
I was singing it all day - not sure why.

7. Me, too. And I know why. |
|
One of my office mates always dials speed dial numbers with his phone in speaker mode. One of the numbers totally starts out with the Camptown Races notes, and the rest of the office goes "doo-dah, doo-dah."
It's funny, but it sticks.

9. When I get an earworm, there is almost always a subconscious reason. |
|
Two possibilities for you:
1. When I think of this song, I think of a gold prospector. Have you been thinking about gold? Have you been thinking about prospectors? Are you subconsciously wanting to stake your claim?
2. The key lyric for me in this song is "you are lost and gone forever, dreadful sorry, Clementine". That's what I key on. Loss and regret. (Could just be me, hahahahaha!) But is there something you feel you have lost that is gone forever?
Anyway, those are my thoughts. I only point them out because this is one of the main ways my subconscious speaks to me. Usually I figure out why right away.
