ABC Cancels Charlie's Angels
Edited on Fri Oct-14-11 08:01 PM by JI7
never saw it but i know it was heavily promoted . is Pan Am next ?

<ABC's reboot of the "Charlie's Angels" TV series was a big deal when it was first announced back in 2009. But after the new show aired four episodes, it became clear that the network didn't have a winner on its hands.

And now ABC has confirmed that production has shut down and the show has been officially cancelled. The seven episodes that have already been shot will continue to air in the Thursday 8pm time slot.

"Charlie's Angels" has become ABC's first cancellation of the fall TV season. No word on what will replace the show.>

4. NBC also cancelled "The Playboy Club" show
Edited on Fri Oct-14-11 11:43 PM by Kat45
I've heard of a couple of more shows also canceled. About 3 weeks for each; they're really not giving them much time these days! But I think I read that Pan AM was doing ok.

7. hmm, Playboy Club and now Charlie's Angels
seems like it's not the year to be a young, attractive group of women on TV.

8. Young, attractive and exploited.
Women don't care for the exploitation that shows like the Playboy Club and Charlie's Angels represent. That is why Pan Am should bite the dust, too. They have to use nostalgia to promote this kind of crap, because modern women can be smart, capable and attractive without being exploited.

I am not sad to see these shows canceled. You could bring back the same actresses in roles that showed them in charge of a workplace or an adventurous situation, and I would be glad to watch.

9. women probably don't
but, I'm guessing both shows were targeting male audiences. I didn't watch a second of either show, so have no idea, though.

10. I guess targeting male audiences didn't work out for
them, either. Maybe fewer men are interested in the exploitation. Strong women who are in charge can be sexier than those who are merely objectified.

11. I think the point of Charlie's Angels
was that they were strong women who took charge.

Playboy Club is another matter, however.

13. Worked in the movies, although I only saw one of them. But I had zero interest in the show
also I don't have a TV. Guess that makes me less of a target demog, even if I'm still under 50.

14. Actually it's not the year for ...
(a) Dumbass shows about now-defunct night clubs, and

(b) Dumbass remakes of shows that should never have been made in the first place.
