The things you find out about family |
|
I recently made contact with a cousin that I hadn't heard from since I was a kid some 40+ years ago. At some point he joined the Army after serving in Germany and other posts ended up assigned to the U.S. Army Service Center for the Armed Services, The Pentagon. From 1984 through 1991, he worked for the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. He provided personal security for the Chairman himself, and served 3 consecutive Chairman’s including Colin Powell and William Crowe. From 1991 through 2004, he served as a White House Escort in Washington DC in the executive branch and worked for the Big Dog himself Bill Clinton and for the Shrub. I'm floored to find this out and wish I had kept in touch.

1. I didn't know until I was in my 20s |
|
that one of my mother's cousins, who I thought was an only child, was not an only child.
When they were both 6 and 7, the younger brother was killed in a gun accident. no body ever mentioned it. EVER.
so different from what you said, but yea, sometimes it's weird what you find out
