My 17 year old kitty Elmer will most likely take his last breath today. Unfortunately I have to go to work so I probably won't be with him when he passes so please send your positive vibes and love and if you have any furry friends at the Rainbow Bridge be sure to tell them to welcome him. I have him wrapped up in blankets and he is comfortable and sleeping peacefully right now. It's so hard to say goodbye :(

It's been hard for me to concentrate at work today. As much as I'd like to be with him when he crosses over, I'm hoping he will already be at peace when I get home. But he's very sick and if he's still here, he'll be put down at 6:10 p.m. Elmer is very special to me because I've had the honor of being his "person" since the day he was born on March 4, 1994. He's journeyed with me through a lot of changes in the past 17 and a half years. I do take comfort in knowing he has had a long happy life and was very loved. Anyway I need to get back to work or I'll start crying again. I'll have a tribute to Elmer later today I'm sure... I love that there are so many animal lovers here in the Lounge ::hug::

19. Elmer is still with us...

I got home with knots in my stomach expecting to find him passed away. He did move from his little bed that I set up for him this morning. I found him crouched in the bathroom. He's all wet so I think he might have tried to get a drink from the toilet (which is sort of good, I haven't seen him eat or drink since yesterday). I kind of sent him thoughts letting him know it was ok to move on...he must have wanted to wait for me. So at least he will die in my arms. Poor sweet kitty I hate to see him suffering. His appointment is a 6:10...please keep sending your thoughts and love for safe and peaceful journey to the Rainbow Bridge...I'll be holding him and comforting him until then

25. Elmer has passed

I did end up having him euthanized...it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do but it was very peaceful and I feel I did the right thing. I had the honor of being with him when he took his first breath and with him when he took his last. In the many breaths in between he loved to chase his tail, climb Christmas trees and eat cheese pizza. He was always a character with loads of personality. Very curious and funny, the smiles he gave me are countless. As I sit sad on this cold and rainy October night, I know that Elmer is at the Rainbow Bridge smiling in the sunshine
Until we meet again my sweet buddy...I'll miss you (Thanks again for all your kind words and for having your departed kitteh friends welcome him to the other side)
