...cats never mature mast the level of adolescence, and that they view their human owners as their mothers.

I can see evidence of that. Sometimes I look at my cat, who came from the Humane Society at age 7 months, and wonder what her real mom was like. I see the love that she gives and the love that she needs and wonder what her "photo" looked like.

13. My kitties are rescues and I always wonder about their "cat moms" too.

I've had kitties all my life and several times I've had females who have latched onto me intensely as their one "person." I am definitely a mother figure to them. The boy kitties tend to spread the affection around a bit more.
