Want to know the quickest way to get on my shit list?
Come to my house and insult my cat once. That will do it every time. I have caught my wife whispering to new visitors who stop by to not say anything bad about Dons cat because he will never forgive someone who does. And she is right. Think I might have a little Father Of The Bride in me? His name is Mr. Marius. I had him since he was a kitten and he has been the best cat I ever had by far.

Here he is:

1. Good-looking critters!
I would never insult your cat. And nobody better insult mine, either.

3. Mr. Marius is a very handsome fellow
And it is totally appropriate to hold a grudge against anyone maladaptive enough to insult such a wonderful cat.

5. If I can't say anything bad I won't point out...
Your dog is mocking your kitty mercilessly.

(They're both adorable. You're right to not allow people to speak ill of your family. Makes you a good dad.)

11. Marius is just a grey tabby alley cat that someone dropped off here about 13 years ago
The rings on his tail look like a raccoons. He is an eleven ringer.

The dog is a Keeshond named Frosty. Him and the cat were best of friends until Frosty passed away last year. He was a real good dog too. They were inseparable. Found another big German Shepherd, Border Collie mix and kept her for the cat and now they are best friends. This cat has always loved dogs. The cat has always been the alpha-male of the household. He sleeps on my pillow above my head every night and purrs me to sleep. Hope I don't ever lose him.

13. Does he have an orange nose? That would make him a tortoise-shell
I had a cat exactly like that growing up.

14. Orange as a pumpkin
Had to check but I didn't have to go far to look because he is in my lap.

I didn't know that about tortoise-shell cats.

Thank you.

15. I'm full of shit
I just googled "Tortoise shell cat" and checked my grey tabby. He has an orange noise and the pictures of torties and torbies don't look anything like either cat.

16. I have seen some tortoise-shell cats before and he didn't look like them
He is just your average everyday old alley cat. A good one though. He has never even accidentally scratched me since we found him. I give him baths regularly and he wouldn't think of scratching me. I think he would rather die before he scratched and hurt me. He is some cat.

I actually considered having him cloned. They need 1X1 inch squares of skin surgically removed and sent to the cloning company and there is no way in hell I would put him through that.

17. !! how much does it cost to clone a cat?
Too late for my dear cat who passed in March, but I sure would have loved a copy of him.

18. Back when I checked it was about $15 grand
No guarantee the kittens(s) will look or act anything like the original copy either. An example why they may not act alike might be there would be no way I could replicate the most important forming period of my cats life due to not getting him until he was 6 months old. His mother and the upbringing she gave him had most to do with that. As for how the cloned cat looks I imagine the DNA can possibly get jumbled around during the cloning process? Just guessing though.

22. My Madison does the same thing
At 3AM she lets out a cry, jumps on the bed and positions herself above my head on the pillow and basically makes it impossible for me to go back to sleep. Why she won't sleep on the other pillow, or by my side is a mystery. Your furbabies are beauts.

12. Why aren't you recycling the water from the gutter?
Appears to me you have a hose which allows the rainwater flow to the yard. Plastic garbage bags!?!? And sliding patio doors are very inefficient.

20. They're both handsome critters!
How could anyone insult a beautiful tabby?

It's okay if people say my cats are weird, because they are. But beyond that, there'll be trouble.

21. My daughter came into town yesterday and first words out of her mouth were, "Marius needs a bath."
Edited on Sat Oct-22-11 05:50 PM by NNN0LHI
I gritted my teeth and told her that I just given him a bath this week which I did. Then it occurred to me that she is exactly like me and was just pushing the buttons that she knows to push to get me riled up. So after realizing that I smiled and kissed her on the cheek and told her I loved her.

That is the actual incident that led me to starting this thread.

23. Brave man
Washing a cat. I hire people to do it, so I seem like the hero when I come to their rescue. Dirty pool, but I gotta sleep sometime.

It seems as though both you and your daughter have been trained well by cats. Cats are good at that button-pushing thing. At least, the ones I live with are.

24. I can see right there in the photo how cool he is!
I love his short stripedy legs and his big toes :loveya: I have a cat foot fetish.

Doggy toes are precious too, of course. I love how cats and dogs get along, these look like a nice little team.
