My son went as far as a junior black belt, then stopped. You should send her a note (but no return address).

6. I hadn't talked to my first love in 30 years |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-25-11 10:16 AM by OriginalGeek
and then found her on FaceBook. The first thing she did after 30 years of not knowing whatever happened to her was yell at me for being outraged that an abortion doctor had been killed at his church. I called out the conservative christians in my FB groups to share my outrage but what I got was a lot of "Killer was a hero!... he saved them babies!" and she was one of the loudest.
Goddamn did I ever dodge a fuckin bullet. (I should point out that we met at independent, fundamentalist, Baptist church-run christian school and dated all through my senior year. I guess it shouldn't surprise me)
lol, but I meant to add, yeah, yours is much better. IF you guys meet up, try not to piss her off. lol

7. I have a similar story!! |
|
My first "love" (first when we were kids and then dated on and off), who never showed any signs of growing up this way, is now a Faux-News watching, anti-"soshulism", Obama-racist-joke-postin', Reagan-lovin' Mama-Grizzly LOON. She fucking defriended me on FaceBook  :eyes:
I saw photos of her and her not-updated-since-1993 hair or glasses . . . and her now-moon-faced chin . . . and the fact that, let's just say she's never someone I could be physically attracted to, forgive me . . . and I also said "Thank GOD I dodged THAT bullet".

8. Judging from the interview I have nothing to worry about in that regard |
|
The interview which unfortunately is in Spanish, projects the refined, sophisticated and polite lady that I remember.
And I forgot to mention, she's an architect.
That's a bullet I would gladly take any day. ;)

yours turned out WAY better than mine or HughBeaumont's.
But at least we both are free from those shackles...
I kinda don't understand why all those people from my old high school haven't de-friended me though.... Maybe I give them someone to pray for? lol

in the two conversations I had with one of my first "loves" he called Obama a "Mooslim" and scum and made racist comments about a bar that has a predominantly Latino and African American crowd. Not to mention writing Iraq as "Irag". I made sure to school him well on Obama and made a point to let him know I never had a problem at said bar and that I even worked there for a while. It was a bit disappointing because he was the older guy that I perceived in a fantastical light up to that point

11. how do you even remember the name of your first love? |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-25-11 06:41 PM by pitohui
i guess i'm a bad evil person, i would have no idea of the name of my first loves or puppy loves, if i ever knew their last names, which i doubt, i don't know them now and to be honest i'm shaky on the first names
are we talking elementary school puppy loves or are we up to "first loves" in college or something that are really only "first loves" because we put the puppy loves out of our mind?
interesting question to be sure...if she wasn't famous, would you remember someone else as your first love, or have you always regarded her in this way?

she was my first real girlfriend. Dated her all my senior year of high school. We was in loooooove! I got to hold her hand at the roller skating rink.
She is currently married to the guy she left me for in high school. But I think that came later - she left me for him, they dated for a while and then broke up and now they are married but I have no idea of the time line...long enough for him to have some kids with someone else.
They can have each other.

She has been a presence in my life, throughout mi life. We were fiancees. This is a poem I wrote to her and posted here, over four years ago. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=6187764&mesg_id=6191740

of "friending" a couple of my long lost loves on Facebook - only to find out they're Teabaggers. Yuck.

19. my first love lives near me to this day |
|
Her parents were totally against our getting married because they didn't want a Puerto Rican son in law. She broke up with me after 5 years together (breaking my heart). I found out later that she met and eloped with a black guy I knew from school. A few years ago there was a story in the local paper saying that he had been arrested for exposing himself to female bus monitors on the school bus he drove. He was convicted and got 2 years in the county lock up. She divorced him and now lives alone. Last February she sent me a message through Classmates.com that she regretted not marrying me and caving in to her parents. I honestly didn't know how to respond.

it's history and what good would come from my saying "I told you so". Part of me feels sorry for her and I figure things happen for a reason.

but the guy I thought was perfect for me, way back in 1996. He dumped me atrociously. I wept for days.
Never forgot him and never got over him.
Kept in touch, found out he got married and I got married as well.
Found out we both got divorced.
Reconnected in 2007...
Married last year and very happy, we're older and wiser.
9 times out of 10 it's good to let the ghosts of the past die, but there's that 1 possibility. If I hadn't had the courage to e-mail him early in 2007, we would have never reconnected and gotten married.
Sometimes, you have to make your own 'happily ever after' or find out it was no big loss.
