1) Beatles. Elvis would just be a second rate "Country" star if he were around today.
2) "I'm too stupid for my shirt, so stupid it hurts"
3) Terra brand sweet potato chips. Munching them this morning. Need a little more salt, though.
4) A great big pasta salad full of home-grown vegetables and herbs. With either chicken or seafood.
5) Hey baby, want a walnetto? No.
6) Yup.
7) ???
8) Reagan. Did a lot of damage.
9) Gunsmoke, when I was about 3. I also remember watching Bonanza. God, I hate that kind of stuff now. I detest westerns and action movies, like comedies, light romance, that sort of thing.
10) Trust me, you don't want to.

1. Beatles or Elvis - who did more to advance the genre of Rock & Roll.

I.R. Baboon.

3. What is the last thing you have eaten and was it tasty?

Taco John's breakfast burrito, and it was OK.

My Brass Buddha Chicken Wings - hot enough to bring tears from a brass Buddha.

6. Do you have a green thumb?

I could kill wax flowers.

7. If the DU Lounge became an Independant Country - what would you want to designate as our National Anthem.

Tomorrow Never Knows ("Turn off you mind, relax and flow downstream....)

8. If you had a magical wand and could make one person disappear and that includes all traces of their existance throughout history - who would you pick?

I'm with denninmi - Ronald Reagan.

9. What is the first TV show you ever remember watching on TV?

Probably JFK speaking at the 1960 Democratic convention. I was sick as a dog with summertime flu, but remember it vividly.

10. Why can't I be you?

Trust me, you wouldn't want to be. :hi:

17. Okay.
Beatles or Elvis - who did more to advance the genre of Rock & Roll?

Tough one. What Elvis did was hugely important. But if it wasn't him, it would have been somebody else. What The Beatles did was also huge, and they did more of it. And even though somebody else would've filled in eventually, it wouldn't have been the same. So I say The Beatles.

If you were a TeaBagger, what would your protest sign say?

"I can haz Moran?"

What is the last thing you have eaten and was it tasty?

Dos tacos de carne asada con todo. Yes.

I'm making a giant potluck dinner - what tasty food will you share with the lounge?

Duh. Carne Asada.

What is the worst pick-up line you have ever used and did it work?

"Mind if I try something?" Yes.

Do you have a green thumb?

Oh hell no.

If the DU Lounge became an Independant Country - what would you want to designate as our National Anthem.

We Will Rock You/ We Are The Champions.

If you had a magical wand and could make one person disappear and that includes all traces of their existance throughout history - who would you pick?

I wouldn't. I ain't messin' with the continuum.

What is the first TV show you ever remember watching on TV?

Dr. Kildaire, maybe?

Why can't I be you?

Oh, baby. You don't wanna be me.

19. Answers:
1.)I'm going to say that both were artifice that lost the initial meanings and importance of the "black music" they were imitating. I can make an argument that many other people including but not limited to The Who and Eric Burdon did far more to progress Rock and Roll than either the Beatles or Elvis.

2.)I'm the 1%! (I'm really not...even if you meant my larger family, we're nearer the top of the 99% but having a million-dollar house and another 500K in assets isn't 1% territory.) I've noticed that the tea-scum lie a lot.

3.) I just realized I haven't eaten yet today...I had some mango Jarritos but that was it.

4.) Chili Mac.

5.) Hi cutie! You look sexually-frustrated, can I help? (Yes. That worked, even though we'd known each other since freshman year and I'd clearly blanked her name.)

6.) No.

7.) "My Country 'tis of thee" as played on a kazoo.

8.) My biological father.

9.) Sesame Street.

10.) You don't want to, trust me on that.

20. Checking in...
Beatles or Elvis - who did more to advance the genre of Rock & Roll.

The Beatles brought on the British Invasion.

If you were a TeaBagger, what would your protest sign say?

"Ignernce Has Its Price"

What is the last thing you have eaten and was it tasty?

A bowl of assorted, chopped fruit & it was delicious.

I'm making a giant potluck dinner - what tasty food will you share with the lounge?

A large pot of chicken gumbo.

What is the worst pick-up line you have ever used and did it work?

Never used one myself, but the pick-up line that irritated me the most was "Wanna make the scene?" about 5 years after it went out of style.

Do you have a green thumb?

Not just no -- HELL no. I do admire those who do.

If the DU Lounge became an Independant Country - what would you want to designate as our National Anthem.

"We Are the World"

If you had a magical wand and could make one person disappear and that includes all traces of their existance throughout history - who would you pick?

George W. Bush

What is the first TV show you ever remember watching on TV?

Probably Captain Kangaroo.

Why can't I be you?

Because you are cool being you.

21. Hmmm
1. Elvis was big influence on Led Zeppelin so I pick him.
2. HEY! Wait...wut?
3. just had lunch at a south american cafe across the street. Asada Negro (which is basically a couple thick slabs of very lean round steak cooked all day in this black bean/brown sugar gravy), with black beans and rice and sweet plantains. Fuckin delicious. Everything was plastic fork tender. Never even unwrapped the knife.
4. Same thing I always do for those things: Asparagus in cream of mushroom soup baked with cheese and Durkee fried onions on top. I love it and if nobody else does, more for me! (Green beans doen the same way gets scarfed up too quickly - but this I get lots of lol)
5. I never was good at that sort of thing...I think even my wife talked to me before I had the nerve to talk to her...lol
6. My house is on every living plant's no-fly zone warning cables. I am not allowed to walk into a home improvement store through the garden section as a trail of death and destruction follow in my wake. The only thing I can't seem to kill is mold in my bathroom.
7. Anarchy in the DU (Although my idea of anarchy is more along the lines of Robert Heinlein's Martian anarchy - not so much "Fuck everyone - do what we want!" as everyone is so concerned about not offending their neighbor that everyone behaves and government isn't even needed.)
8. My stepfather.
9. Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood. And I made sure my daughter watched it too.
10. I'm all for it. We can switch. Just don't ask too many questions after you get you back. I won't ask what you did as me. I won't get anything of yours pierced and I ask you do the same.

22. my answers

  1. Beatles or Elvis - who did more to advance the genre of Rock & Roll. - I was never a big fan of the king but he was seems to be the bridge that helped bring that raw energy into mainstream radio. For that I am grateful

  2. If you were a TeaBagger, what would your protest sign say? - I demand my right to arm bears!!!

  3. What is the last thing you have eaten and was it tasty? I'm drinking a Strawberry Fruit Smoothie as I post this.

  4. I'm making a giant potluck dinner - what tasty food will you share with the lounge? - I would make my famous Prune Spice Cake - it's yummy yummy good!

  5. What is the worst pick-up line you have ever used and did it work? - Never really used a pickup line before unless you count "Can I buy you a drink" and a few times it worked when I was younger (yes as a girl I would use lines to pick up guys)

  6. Do you have a green thumb? I wish I did but plants fear living in my realm. I think the only reason my cats have survived is they have the ability to annoy the bejesus out of me when I neglect them with food & water.

  7. If the DU Lounge became an Independant Country - what would you want to designate as our National Anthem. "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin.

  8. If you had a magical wand and could make one person disappear and that includes all traces of their existance throughout history - who would you pick? I want to pick Ronald Reagan because of all the harm he has done for 99% of this country but ultimately I'd have to pick either Hitler or Stalin since they just slaughtered people for shits & giggles.

  9. What is the first TV show you ever remember watching on TV? Captain Kangaroo. I had a crush on Mr. Green Jeans.

  10. Why can't I be you? I am me!

25. My usual bizarre answers.
Beatles or Elvis - who did more to advance the genre of Rock & Roll?
The Moody Blues by conceding the site for the battle of the bands from London to the Beatles stomping grounds, which enabled the Beatles to supernova.

If you were a TeaBagger, what would your protest sign say?
Koch Brothers paid me $10 to tote this here sign. Go git one for you too.

What is the last thing you have eaten and was it tasty?
My birthday cake. It is still good!

I'm making a giant potluck dinner - what tasty food will you share with the lounge? DE drink. Should keep everybody's bones, hair and nails strong.

What is the worst pick-up line you have ever used and did it work?
Would you like to go out with me? It did!

Do you have a green thumb? Way more. DE works on plants too. Some of my "dwarf" fruit trees are over 20 feet tall.

If the DU Lounge became an Independant Country - what would you want to designate as our National Anthem. The song my avatar does...Hasta Siempre

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEj7jnR--Dg

If you had a magical wand and could make one person disappear and that includes all traces of their existance throughout history - who would you pick? Some evil person from the future since sometimes people meet because of evil and have good kids such as how many Jews left due to Hitler and found soulmates elsewhere or Ghengis Khan has over 32,000,000 in his tree now.

What is the first TV show you ever remember watching on TV? Some Indian giving a test signal that lasted for hours before the cartoons came on.

Why can't I be you?
Did you ever know that I'm your hero? I'm everything you wish you could be. I kid. You can be me anytime just remember to fill up the old boiler every six hours or so.

37. OK, I'll have a go...
Beatles or Elvis? Beatles.

If you were a TeaBagger, what would your protest sign say? 'If I Only Had a Brain'

What is the last thing you have eaten and was it tasty? Cottage cheese on toast. Yes.

I'm making a giant potluck dinner - what tasty food will you share with the lounge? Chocolate cake.

What is the worst pick-up line you have ever used and did it work? Can't remember the worst I've used; but the worst used with me was when I told a fellow-student's friend that I was interested in young children's rhymes and chants, and got the reply, 'Ah, if you are a poet, you must be romaaaaantic'. It didn't work!

Do you have a green thumb? No; if Herbicide were a legal offence, I'd be doing life by now.

If the DU Lounge became an Independant Country - what would you want to designate as our National Anthem. The folk song 'The Prickly Bush', especially the last verse: 'Oh the prickly bush/ It pierced my heart full sore/ And now that I've got away from that bush/ I'll never be caught any more!'

If you had a magical wand and could make one person disappear and that includes all traces of their existance throughout history - who would you pick? Hitler, I suppose; though that wouldn't end the evils perpetrated pre-1930s.

What is the first TV show you ever remember watching on TV? Watch With Mother, when I was about 4.

Why can't I be you? Why would you want to?

6. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...The dead cypress in my back yard says no.

7. I am not here enough anymore to be charged with that awesome responsibility.

8. Adolf Hitler

9. Remember? I think "I Dream of Jeanie"

10. Because I would not wish this type of emotional and physical pain and grief on anyone. Not even an enemy. My own enemies should be happy about that one.
