We're in the western part of the time zone here in SE Michigan -- our solar noon is 34 after clock time in the winter, one hour and 34 minutes during DST. This has the effect of prolonging out evenings and delaying our sunrises per the clock. End result, it isn't dark outside in the evening in June until after 10:00 PM. But, when DST goes away in November, it's dark by 5:30 at night. Which is a real drag.
I just wish they'd make it permanent. I'd much rather go to work in the dark, and then come home to a little daylight. As it is, I come home to darkness, which makes it hard to get things done outdoors that need to be done.

6. On the other hand, when I'm walking at 7:00am, it's dark |

Maybe after 11/6 it'll be a little bit brighter outside, so I won't have to dodge sleepy teenage drivers on their way to school.
But overall, I agree with you. DST should be all year, and maybe a Double-DST in the summer.

I was wondering when that was supposed to happen. I really wish they'd just stick to one time. I always forget how to reset my digital watches.

5. The "fall back" used to be in october. |

But putting it off until early November was the corner stone of the Bush energy policy. I'm an electrician, and I will be busy repairing outdoor lighting after office workers walk to their cars in the dark.
