Fuck me.
The Rangers ran into a Team of Destiny™, no doubt about it.

10 1/2 games out of the NL wild card race on August 25th, and they battle back from their last strike...TWICE in what will now simply be known as GAME 6.

Are you shitting me?

Congratulations Cardinal fans.

Fuck me.

11. Do, or do not.
There is no "think about it."

8. Thank you
your team and manager had alot of heart and played great. I think their pitching got worn down by the end. When the Cards lost in '85 to the Royals it felt terrible. Mostly because of the obvious blown call the night before which robbed them of the WS win, but the Cards should have battled back in the 7th game. Looking at the game in retrospect it almost seems like the Cards won in the 6th game, like the Royals did in '85. The Royals had the home field advantage then too. Funny, I didn't feel so bad about the Cards losing again in '87 to the Twins, I guess I felt the better team won then or at least didn't lose because of an obvious bad call. Not saying that StL is better than TX, they just played better when they needed too.

Your manager was so classy last night with his congratulations. He brought tears to my eyes with his graciousness and seeing the sadness in his eyes for his players. Well, good luck next year. I'm sure I'll see your team in the WS again soon. :)

16. Thanks.
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone.

(The game is) a reminder...of how slight and fragile are the circumstances that exalt one group of human beings over another.

It breaks my heart because it was meant to, because it was meant to foster in me again the illusion that there was something abiding, some pattern and some impulse that could come together to make a reality that would resist the corrosion; and because, after it had fostered again that most hungered-for illusion, the game was meant to stop, and betray precisely what it promised." - Bart Giamatti
