Before the giant battle the Ice Giants require a huge ship, Naglfar, made from the toenails of the dead(why toenails you ask, that is for the Norns to explain), to get them from Jötunheimr to Midgard (earth).

I assumed you were perplexed by my reference to the Ice Cats needing a ship made of old claws and so I wished to explain it a little.
