It's official: Socrates weighs 27 pounds
and small change. He had to go to the vet yesterday for a cyst in his ear, and they weighed him after they were done with everything else. The two nurses who cathandled him onto the scale couldn't stop laughing. To his credit, Socrates didn't freak out and everything went well. He has 4 more girlfriends now - everybody at the clinic has a huge crush on him. :D

8. It's more of his "yes, supplicant?" look
:D When he really needs "me" time, he disappears. I have actually lost a 27-lb cat in a 1100 sq.ft. condo.

19. I commented to my husband, "Socrates should have a ruler next to him."
My husband said, "No, a yardstick!"

I used to think my 16 lb. cat was big! :o

20. Somewhere in here, I have a picture of him next to
his somewhat more normal-sized cousin Neutrino, who's maybe 8 pounds soaking wet on a high-gravity day. :D I'll post it if I find it.

7. That's a big kitty
I'm worried about my Huckleberry who's 16 pounds. The vet says he's overweight but "he carries it well". I'm actually thinking of getting him one of those cat exercise wheels, like the ones in hamster cages but 4-feet in diameter.

9. His brother Plato weighs 18 pounds
The vet did mention that Socrates was a tad bit on the large side :P, but since I have 4 other cats, she understands it's nearly impossible to put just one on a diet.

The problem with an exercise wheel for Socrates is it'd have to be like 10 feet wide.

14. Did he get his tuxedo at the Big & Tall shop?
He's a cutie, srsly. It really is hard to put a cat on a diet, especially when you have several of them. One of mine is a bit on the portly side, too, and the vet thinks I should try to get some of the lard off him, but it just isn't working.

He has all kinds of alien DNA in there. :P There's no telling.

10. I'd love to have one of those.
Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDwZfhdkA3M and see how fast the big one runs (at about 2:08).

They totally get it too - walk and it's slow, haul ass and it spins like a maniac. :)

12. This convinces me I should get one
They're expensive but I have to consider it against the future costs of Huckleberry's weight issue. I also have to consider the huge entertainment value for me. And the enormous value of keeping the cats happy. ;)

16. You could also hook one up to the power grid
and have the furballs sell power back to the electric company...

Hmm. A plan is taking shape. :P

17. Don't think I haven't thought of that
I've already ordered it. I can't believe I did. It was like I was under the influence of some other consciousness or two. ;)
