Ideas for racoon-proof outdoor cat feeder |
|
Our outdoor kitteh's fud has come under recent attack from neighborhood masked bandits. These racoons are smart, they've already picked the bird feeders clean and now walk right up to the back steps and eat the cat food while they stand helples by and watch.
Have any of yall had any luck with making racoon proof cat feeders?

1. Feed the kitties indoors |
|
And make sure you don't have a cat door. In fact, bolt all doors and windows. And count the kitties. Sometimes raccoons put on kitty costumes to fool you.
If you haven't gotten the gist, let me be clear: there is no way to defeat the little MFs other than shooting them.

2. Shooting them doesn't work either - they just go to zombie mode |
|
They're fur bearing cockroaches.

3. they are smarter and more agile than cats |
|
no way to "proof" a feeder that wouldn't also keep the cats out
only option is feed under direct human supervision, no free choice-food out all the time will work

4. How about you put the feeder inside a large Havahart cage then |
|
you'll inevitably capture raccoons. Send them to a game processor and turn them into catfood.
Raccoons ain't gonna eat other raccoons are they?
Hey, You asked for ideas.
