Another update on the house. Hopefully by the next one it will be all ready to move in! :^D
Master bath vanity lights

New driveway

Rock retaining wall is done. The steps are still to go in. (All of those rocks were already on the property. Free rocks rock!)

The beginnings of a back deck

First radiator is on the wall

Guest bathroom has a sun-tube now. Will try to get a better picture during the day soon.

Maple floor

A closer look at the floor

1. My dear GreenPartyVoter!
Oh, these are wonderful!

I can really feel your excitement...it's going to be your little bit of heaven!

I noticed the storage shelves in the shower...those are great! It's wonderful to not have stuff intruding into the shower...

And of course the wood floor is gorgeous!

It's really unbelievable how many details there are to finishing a house. I know you feel as though it will NEVER get done...

But it will.

Happy Landing!

I can't wait to see all of you move in!

3. Your place is gorgeous, GPV!
Hard to believe it's a modular home!

Are the radiators electric or something else?

:hi:

5. Thanks! They are hot water rads with
thin panels on the front and back that spread the water around. The boiler is a high efficiency propane system.

7. I had no idea they were putting rads in new construction!
My house is 94 yrs. old and I've got the old-fashioned kind. Got a new high efficiency gas boiler 5 years ago.

I wouldn't trade my radiators for anything!

8. I haven't had any experience with them yet, but the plumber says they are light years better than
the hot water baseboard systems I grew up with in the 70s and 80s. (Which is good, because I never felt warm around those!)

15. I forgot to ask before, what did you have before you got your high efficiency boiler and how much
more cost effective have you found the new one to be? (I hear great things about propane and gas boilers, but the fuel prices are a bit worrisome at times. We've been using kerosene for the last 14 years for our forced hot air system.)

13. Thank you! We have big plans for kitty's space! There are several leftover pieces
of plywood and unused carpet tiles. I'm going to ask the kids to design and help build a playground suitable for an old girl like her. She's still amazingly spry, but I would prefer she not be jumping or falling from great heights at her age. I'm thinking some sort of soft crash pad material underneath her jungle gym would be good, since it will be down in the basement and there's just a cement floor to land on if she falls.

I know she'll just love being able to climb again. When she was a much younger girl and we lived in an apartment with real wooden doors, she would shimmy right up the outer edge and then lay across the top monorail cat style! I wish I'd gotten a pic of her doing that, but I don't think I ever did. :(

37. I'm sure the kitty has big plans for YOUR space.
And the whole house is her playground.

If you have leftover plywood and carpet, make a shelf that sits on top of one of those radiators. Cats cannot resist a warm radiator shelf.

The house looks great!

frozen by the time we finish the house and move all our stuff in. :(

19. I wanted one for my laundry room as well, but they couldn't do it because of
the double roof from the porch. I will be investing in some strong light bulbs for that room!

22. It's looking more and more like home every time you bring photos. And lucky you with the boulders!
That would cost a fortune if you hadn't had them on the property!

We built a few years back, and it's so exciting seeing it come together!

25. Thank you. :^) I can remember as a kid having to chuck rocks from the veggie garden during the
summer, so I know that Maine grows rocks better than anything else. I guess there must have been some good fertilizer in the ground to give me such a good crop of boulders. LOL

I think maybe you told me about your Nana. My grandma was first generation. Her parents emigrated from Port Talbot and settled in Scranton, PA in a Welsh neighborhood.

Llongyfarchiadau am dy dŷ di. (congrats on your house)
