Those shopping mall kiosk peddlers really irritate the crap out of me.
Edited on Thu Nov-03-11 10:22 PM by Brigid
The other day I went to a mall I used to frequent when I lived here before. The kiosk peddlers in the town I just moved from were fairly innocuous, but the ones here are really pushy -- market surveys, handing perfume samples. cheap jewelry, toys that break in about a week, that sort of thing. One of them even wanted to touch my hair. I think she was selling hairpices or some such. Does this go on everywhere?

2. there are actually "rules" they are supposed to obey....
at Westfield malls, they have to stay a certain amount of feet away from you... they are not allowed to pester you.... check the rules at your malls. I can't stand them either. They all say, "can I ask you something" as I am passing by.... I hate to be impolite, because they are doing their job.... but they do, supposedly, have rules.

3. The Israeli Dead Sea Salt Scrub people are awful
They run after you and grab at you.

One night my SO came home with a jar of that overpriced crap. I just looked at him and said "let me guess - one of the pretty Israeli girls grabbed you, and you couldn't resist". Ugh. I hate to even walk by their kiosk.

In our airport, the credit card people used to be HORRIBLE, shouting personal comments at you as you walked by, and since they were USAir people in the USAir terminal, there was no recourse. They're not so bad anymore - maybe because of the economy.

4. Me too. They are getting more aggressive.
It's like walking down a touristy beach in Mexico... Hey, lady, special deal for you today.

5. That's never happened to me at a mall.
But I can think of plenty of other reasons to avoid the mall.

9. Don't look them in the eyes or even look at their Kiosks
THey are bad here at the malls in Wilmington area. I've gotten very good at walking past them and I won't even give them a glance or their kiosk. If you do you're screwed.

11. Well, then, avoid the International Marketplace in Waikiki.
It's like a collection of such kiosks in search of a mall. :scared:
