Was there a song you liked, but it took you years to identify? |
|
They never seem to name songs on the radio, for about the last 30 years at least. No wonder the record industry died. You had no idea who recorded that cool song you just heard, so you couldn't go out and buy it.
Some examples of songs that took me years to identify:
"Twine Time" by Alvin Cash & the Crawlers "Put it Where you Want It" by the Crusaders "Harlem Nocturne" by anyone that recorded it "Loser" by Beck "What's the Matter with You?" by Split Enz "Music to Watch Girls By" by Bob Crewe "Dazz" by Brick "Working with Fire and Steel" by China Crisis "Sunset Now" by Heaven 17 "Stand!" by Sly & the Family Stone "Welcome to Hollywood" by Leon Russell
How about you?

The closest I ever came to that was a song I heard while in my car. I arrived at my destination, and didn't have time to wait around for the rest of the set, so I subsequently sent a note to the radio station, said something like,"You played this song on this date at about this time, it had this lyric, and was a female singer." I included a SASE and they sent me a response with the song title and artist.

2. "Kerosene" by Big Black |
|
I don't remember why, as a college student, I overlooked Big Black and this song. The lyrics remind me so much of growing up in Ohio's shithole redneck small towns.
As an adult, it's what I listen to before I officate Roller Derby matches.

3. The closest I can come to the OP is Black Pearl (released 1969ish) |
|
I had no idea who the artist was until I saw it on YouTube (The Checkmates). One of my favorites from 7th grade-so pretty and erethal.
