My brother lost his best friend today...
Riley was their first baby. Wherever they went, Riley went too. I remember getting cards with his puppy pictures, and then pictures as he grew. He really was their first. He was an awesome dog. He was big, and gregarious, and into things. He was gentle with the babies, when they came, and happy to rest his head on your foot when you came to visit. He was in trouble a lot as a youngster. For getting into those things that he got into. He was loved. Time flies to fast for our little (in this case kind of big) friends. I miss you already, Mr. Riley. It seems like I just got that first picture of my brother holding you. I hope there's a big beach for you to run on, without getting into trouble, out there.

2. Riley was a beautiful boy with a big heart...
I'm sure he has a big beach to run on where nobody will scold him...

My dalmatian Meson is running out there with him too...she loved to run.

I'm so sorry for his loss...

3. The Span of Life
The old dog barks backwards without getting up.
I can remember when he was a pup.

4. I know a big dog who is probably running with Riley right now -- a big dog who also got into trouble
a lot when he was younger. Riley's in good company.

5. one of the saddest things in the world is a pet dying
one of the most wonderful is making friends with that new pup.
Thanks for the memories, Riley.

9. My brother just lost his Brandy. I know she met Riley when he crossed
the Rainbow Bridge and now they're sharing treats. Brandy used to "smile" like that too.

10. A Dog on his Master...
As young as I look,
I am growing older faster than he,
seven to one
is the ratio they tend to say.

Whatever the number,
I will pass him one day
and take the lead
the way I do on our walks in the woods.

And if this ever manages
to cross his mind,
it would be the sweetest
shadow I have ever cast on snow or grass.

-- Billy Collins, poet

My condolences to you and your brother.

11. .
Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you.....
I loved you so --
'twas Heaven here with you.
