I've been in the hospital for over 24 hours while they try to induce me for birth, but there have been practically no contractions and I'm hitting the upper limit of what they can give me for pitocin soon. I developed preeclampsia last week and I hadn't even been intending a hospital delivery, so I'm worn out, stressed out, and freaked out... Get this thing out of me vibes please? Everything has gone to pieces.

I know it's difficult. But try and relax. Long deep slow breaths. Square breathing - you know in on a count of 4 - or 8 - hold (4 or 8) out on a count of 4 or 8, hold 4 or 8. Repeat.

Think positive thoughts. Think happy thoughts. Think relaxing thoughts. Yeah sounds smarmy and easy from here and not so easy there. But try. Visualization should help, too. Visualize your body. Visualize the process. Think about each step happening easily and naturally. Repeat.

Still waiting. A few contractions now but nothing significant. Theres actually talk of sending me home, but I'm swollen as all heck and loaded with pitocin (supposed to make me contract), neither of which I was when they admitted me yesterday. I really can't see myself leaving at this point, but no one will give me a straight answer as to whats going on.

It's hard not to get attached to one way of doing things, but the important thing is that you and your baby go through this together and in a healthy way. Let people take care of you. And try to let the worrying go by the wayside. I've done it, I've seen it under trying circumstances, and there's every reason to believe it'll go fine and you'll soon have a baby. Keep us posted, Zephie.

so as a preface, this is MR. Zephie here, just giving you all a status update. zephie is fine now, there where some complications at the end (i will let her elaborate later if she wants), she is absolutely exhausted, actual deliver only took about 30 minutes, so very fast one we got there. Gareth is doing fine, he is very alert, and doesn't make much noise, a very happy baby overall.

rest up everybody - that is one advantage to a hospital birth - mandatory sleep times!

if this is your first, that is also my big life advice - sleep WHENEVER you can, whatever you think you should do while baby is sleeping can wait. GET SOME SLEEP YOURSELVES. If this isn't your first, the advice is the same - you just need to remember it!
