Free meal for veterans Friday at Applebee's.
"Participating Applebee's locations are offering a free entree of choice from their Vets Day Menu to all veterans and active-duty military personnel from 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday, November 11. Although Applebee's requests some form of military ID, "We're not going to argue with folks who might forget to bring it," said Sam Rothschild, senior vice president of operations."

I found my old dog tags and stuck one in my wallet, just so I could prove my bona fides if ever required.
:-)

I was in the Air national Guard, so this is essentially the only 'veteran's benefit' I'll ever get.

1. The Mrs. and I will avail again
Last year we brought a couple of her old Army pictures with her in uniform… I'm sure they'll honor something like that too.

2. Golden Corral buffet restaurants also give free meals to vets on Veteran's Day and...
.
.
.
...though I've never tried it, they don't make you show documented proof.
.
.
.
I had kept this REALLY cool military ID -- I was on a First Response team
and one night we got called in about 3 AM -- we were a company-force
unit that would lift off the runway within 2 hours of getting a call -- going
anywhere in the world where needed.
.
I left my military ID at home and they actually had an ID photo machine
at the airport, so it was this uber-sleepy, kinda scared 3 AM in full combat
gear picture. Fucking EXCELLENT.
.
.
.
I eventually told them I lost it, but kept it beyond my release date. I put it
through a washing machine, and oddly and coolly enough, only my face got
washed away -- so there was this combat-ready faceless entity in the shot.
.
I have the coolest luck with ID cards -- my AZ driver's license has my gender
as female -- DESPITE the full heavy beard in the photo. It took a medical
records clerk to finally notice it after I had had it for about three years. Too
cool to have them change it -- and my first night in jail might be REALLY
fucking interesting.

4. I saw a sign at Denny's that said free meals on the 11th.
Hey, it is free.

I am heading for Applebee's myself.

5. The problem is every veteran alive comes out of the woodwork
for a free meal, prepare yourself for a long wait. They give you a choice between 2 or 3 meals and it doesn't include a drink, any desert or a tip. So be prepared to pay at least $5 for that (free) meal.
