Looking for appetizer recipes.
I need a few fairly easy new recipes, nothing too complex. What is your go-to appetizer when company is coming?

3. I just saw an easy dandy...
Roll up the cocktail weenies in filo dough and bake - dip in varieties of mustards. You can see lots of choices on pininterest.com - just use the on-site search.

5. Buy some largish, sweet cherry tomatoes.
Cut them in half and scoop out the innards with the smallest melon baller you can find. Stuff the halves with kalamata olive tapenade. Interesting and tasty.

6. Toasted baguette slices, cream cheese, smoked salmon
If you want to get fancy, top with a pimento stuffed olive held on with a party toothpick.

Another idea is to take an 8oz package of cream cheese and mix in a blender with 1/4 cup of salsa. Makes a great veggie dip.

Skewer cherry or plum tomatoes, a basil leaf, and a fresh mozzarella ball. Drizzle with olive oil, balsamic vinegar (optional), and a pinch of kosher salt (or you can use the marinated mozz. balls if you'd like). Easy, fresh and delicious.

17. The friends who are coming over gave me a jar of
mozzarella they had made so I am definitely doing this one with that cheese. I have some late tomatoes that are small that I got in just before the frost and I can use those. All of the recipes look great, though. I need to choose another one or two but I am bookmarking this thread.

16. These are pretty easy. Parmesan Tuiles
Parmesan Tuiles

Makes 2 dozen

1 8-ounce wedge of Parmesan cheese

paprika

Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Shred the cheese, using the large holes of a box grater or the coarse shredding disc of a food processor. Drop the cheese by slightly rounded tablespoons 3 inches apart on a baking sheet lined with Sil-Pat.

Spread each mound into a 3-inch circle with the back of a spoon. Dust each circle lightly with paprika. Bake about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on the Sil-Pat.

Very carefully remove the circles to a serving plate and cover with plastic wrap until time to serve.

18. Catering standby- baby red rose potato, creme fraiche, caviar
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 07:59 PM by Capn Sunshine
boil baby red rose potatoes. Take them out when they are still firm, not mashed potato soft.
Drop in an ice bath to stop them cooking.

Slice like coins. About 1/4" . lay them all out on a cookie sheet or wax paper.
IN a mixing bowl, Mix up some creme fraiche. Or just use sour cream, or even greek unflavored yogurt.
add some chopped fresh dill and mix together with a smattering of pepper.

Spoon onto each cut potato. top with a dash of red or beluga caviar. Sprinkle with cut chives.
Tres chic!

21. Beer cheese fondue with bread and veggies for dipping.
Pretty much any fondue recipe will do however. Trader Joe's has some that are already made that are really good too!

Devilled eggs are another.

Reuben dip is always a meat lover's favorite:
Ingredients

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup Thousand Island dressing
16 ounces sauerkraut, rinsed and squeezed dry
8 ounces shredded corned beef
16 ounces shredded Swiss cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise and dressing.
Spread sauerkraut into a 9x13-inch baking dish. Layer corned beef, Swiss cheese, and the mayonnaise-dressing mixture on top of the sauerkraut.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.

22. You could spread phily cream cheese on a ham slice, then top with another ham slice, more cheese,
more ham...build it up like that till you a stack 5 pieces of ham thick. Then you cut the stacked ham & cheese into small little squares and stick a toothpick through them.

Red pepper jelly is excellent with brie.

You can use freshly cut apple slices instead of crackers when you serve antipasto, or brie.

24. Not a recipe but helpful nonetheless perhaps.
I was in Bed, Bath and Beyond today and remembering that you had posted this noticed that they have a featured cookbook of appetizers recipes, I picked it up and started reading it...really classy apps and most of them were simple.

The publishers page has some sample recipes, but they're not the best ones. Also I was trying to find it on Amazon and it seems to be a BB&B exclusive unless you buy from the publisher directly, it's $15 either way. I did notice that the one review on BB&B's site was one-star and clearly not impressed.
