Yo, DU alcoholics, if I have a recipe
that involves taking 100 proof vodka and adding vanilla beans and letting it all steep for two weeks, well...

...are there any shortcuts to that, like using 80 proof vanilla flavored vodka?

it isn't a shortcut, you must still let it steep for 2 weeks but the taste will be just as good

are you trying to get something done in a hurry? vanilla vodka i don't know how to hurry but i can give you a recipe to make a citrus vodka if you need it in 72 hours....tell me the purpose, i can help...if you just need to quickly produce a homemade gift go citrus not vanilla would be my vote

2. Steeping the beans is the first step in a months-long process
I want my booze now, and not in two months. :P

4. Depends...

is it a recipe for vanilla vodka or real vanilla extract? You can sub vanilla vodka for one but not the other.

Edit: No the purchased vanilla vodka will not be as good.

6. Only two weeks?
I read that as two months. Take the advice I gave you and change one week to 2-3 days.

5. Sure, the first two weeks will be rough
but if you plan it right, after that, you're set.
