What is the worst job you've done?
Teaching. I hate students, they are (as all people) mostly stupid and boring.

7. I've had professors who were geniuses and some obnoxious wannabes. This dude falls in the 2nd group. |
|
An example of how NOT to look at life. He's really asking for people to dump on him with that attitude he's so carefully perfected. Oh, well, he's got a job. Three cheers for academic life.

9. I'd hate to be graded by someone who despises their students. I was in a class like that one time. |
|

Almost everyone failed the course, because the guy was so full of himself and acted as if we knew the material before we got there, and even said it was a disservice to him to even have to teach us...
The department head took over, who was widely known as a genius in the field, having written texts and been published for new ideas, and had no problem with any question on abstract concepts, he was willing to go the journey to understand where the student was working from to understand.
I've had a number of teachers who were arrogant, egotistical assholes but basically they were insecure in themselves and needed to convince someone of their worth. I don't buy those personal sales jobs, kind of like: 'I believe in XYZ and I will throw a tantrum if you don't agree with me, too! You must agree or be damned!' I find humility and openmindedness are traits for success. Although I indulge eccentrics in all walks of life as part of the spice of life and they teach us. If they have power over you, not so much.

Really, he lays it on the line.
I would only take this class for the experience, not for a good grade.

Kinda like throwing tomatoes at the "insult" guy at Renaissance fairs.
I'd never heard of him before this interview, so I'm definitely going to read more of his stuff.

And then have to wait until a virgin shows up to give you a kiss or someone else pays to get out you of them. At least that's how it was last time I attended. It always took money, the stocks refused to magically drop off no matter how many kisses were given, LOL.
Tossing tomatoes was not encouraged. But that was a long time ago. The vendors had some interesting tales to tell, most worked on their handmade goods most of the year at home and received their year's income from around six weekends through October and early November or at least they did at the one I liked to attend. It was a complete break from usual time, just forgot about the clock for a day and was loathe to leave in the evening.
If you have time to blow and want to read the guy's memoirs you might find where he became so bitter. Probably a tragic story in his homeland that made him appealing the university where he now preaches his 'I hate myself and everyone else.' Okay, I'm not being fair, but neither is he. Have a good day.

What does love feel like?
Like a great misfortune, a monstrous parasite, a permanent state of emergency that ruins all small pleasures.

I love people as a community, but most of the individual people get on my last nerve, particularly those who have a cell phone attached to their ear in the supermarket.

23. I tried to read his latest book, but it put me to sleep. |
|
The premise of the book is brilliant, comparing our dealing with the decline of Corporate Capitalism with the 5 stages of grief, but the flesh of the book is too full of postmodernist and psychoanalytic bullshit. Seriously, somebody tell Zizek that Lacan was a moron.
