I just realized why scuba divers fall backward out of boats. If the fell forward |
|
they'd still be in the boat!

1. I just found out why the big v-shape flock of birds in the sky is longer on one side than the other. |
|
There are more birds on that side.

2. That's kind of like how it gets dark in the east when the sun is setting. |
|
But that's only because the sun is not in the east when it sets.

|
I mean it's so obvious it just zinged right past me. Thanks for the perspective. One of those forest and trees thingies...

6. Why can't they fall forward or jump out of the boat? It looks lazy to me. Guess the tanks are heavy. |

7. Probably has something to do with the hard smack on the face from the mask striking the water |
|
head-on like that.
Not to mention maybe the flippers getting yanked off the feet from connecting with the water at such a direct angle.
Also, maybe they think the tanks could catch the transom of the boat on the way down if they jumped right in like snorkelers do.
Other than that,

10. I guess I'm picturing something smoother. But hey, they probably love the splash! |
|
I've had friends who did scuba diving, but they were women. There's actually some amazing stuff to see down underwater in the waters offshore and in the islands of the Pacific northwest.
A person has to be well-trained and in good shape. I would be thinking they could avoid the face smack, maybe not.
But never having done it, I'm very uninformed about it. Hiking and climbing were more my style, but that's been years ago for me.
Thanks for a good explanation. I'm just kidding here mostly. After all it is the Lounge.

22. We actually do, on larger boats. Just walk up to the gate and step over the edge |
|
The rolling backward thing is for small boats, where there's no room to stand up, or stand along the rail...

It TURNS OUT, that when I find something, I generally, but not always, stop looking.

29. Well, the sad part about El Dorado... |
|
...is that it really wasn't made of gold. It was mostly anodized aluminum.
Turns out that real gold is just too heavy and too soft to make buildings out of.
It still worked out pretty well, though. Even aluminum puts some cash in your pocket if you have enough of it.

31. A lot of it was rolled. |
|
Those "golden stones" the buildings were made out of? Yeah, hollow-wall construction. The "seams" were rolled into the sheets of aluminum attached to stamped "C" columns.
Turns out the ancients used mirrors to focus sunlight for spot-welding.
The more you know...
