Dean Smith was in the Air Force, not the Navy
Wouldn't it be more appropriate to play tonight's Michigan State - UNC game in a C-130 instead of on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier?

There's enough room in one of those birds for a basketball court.

Right?

4. Maybe for 5 yr olds
The width of the cargo space is about the same as a single car garage and maybe long enough to get two hummers end to end. If you put something wide like a hummer inside one, your knees are pretty close when sitting the jump seats.

5. Internal cargo space is only about 40 ft x 10 ft. (excluding the ramp).
.
.
.
I flew from Ft Campbell, KY to Ft Bragg NC on those jump seats
and sleeping with my head on the back tire of a GamaGoat (see
below -- Viet Nam War vehicle). It was only 6-1/2 feet wide and
the guys on the other side of the plane could sleep on the tires,
too.
.
We hit the runway (a back-post DIRT runway) too hard and too fast
and bounced back up and had to go around for another run. I went
from twilight-consciousness to WIDE FUCKING AWAKE OMG WE'RE
ALL GONNA FUCKING DIE
for that encore performance.
.
.
.
(Pssst... not REALLY, but I definitely did not go back to sleep.

You could maybe play Ping Pong in one of those things.

6. Ah yes, the excitement of the go-around
C-130s are a tough airplane and were designed for hard landings. However, it's hard to keep that in mind when you're sitting in the jumpseat in a tight bank hearing the chains creak that are keeping the tied down cargo from crushing you like a bug. I used to take comfort in the fact that if the chains broke and the load crushed me, at least I wouldn't be alive to witness the cargo smashing through the side of the aircraft, the tail ripping off, and the resultant death spiral.

You cannot pee out of the back of one on the Autobahn.

11. On what roads is it possible to pee out of the back of a Gamma Goat?
What's so special about the Autobahn?

15. Probably tobacco road
Special about the autobahn? Well it's a speedy road but I thought everyone knew that and it is the only road I ever sat in the back of a gamma goat on. Almost 400 km. , it sucked.

13. Could not stand up enough and the ride sucked
and it was a bit unnerving. Steel pot that I borrowed off a LT helped.
Goats were cool except that they sucked and stayed broken down.

We were at Graf providing coverage for a tank range for weeks
and, as a medic, I talked our Lt. into letting me go back to post
for "needed" medical supplies. I actually just wanted a shower.
.
Caught a ride back with the cooks in the back of a deuce-and-a-half
with the morning's garbage (in cans).
.
.
.
On the Autobahn, buzzing along at maybe 50 mph (80kmh) when my
world EXPLODES!!! The back of the truck JUMPS up several feet and
I end up (luckily) still inside the back of the flatbed, but intermingled
with all the orange rinds and eggshells and coffee grounds from that
morning's breakfast.
.
.
.
We spent about an hour cleaning trash off of about 100 yards of Autobahn.
.
.
.
Turns out the undercarriage-mounted spare tire had just "fallen off" and
the back axle hadn't cleared it.
.
.
.
The cooks hardly contributed to the cleanup as they were laughing so
fucking hard at me -- Breakfastman.
.
.
.
Fuckin' cooks.
.
.
.
I ended up really, really, REALLY needing that shower, after all.
.
.
.
Instant karma for bullshitting the Lt.

16. I was riding to Graf for some detail before gunnery
from Kirch-Göns.

Those Goats looked sort of cool but they were indeed pieces of shit.
We threw a worn out track of a 577 on an alert to the border and took out about 100 feet of comrade's guardrail. They were pissed.

8. But what about the audience?
How many bathrooms do they have on a carrier, and how many bathrooms do they have on a C 130?

He won a ton of games.

He also did lots for progressive causes.
