1. Looks really nice. But how nice is the neighborhood. |
|
That is a really good price. But 3 bedrooms and only 1 bathroom?

2. Cudahy is a pretty decent place... |
|
Or at least was when I still lived there.
And we'll deal with the bathroom situation if the needs arise.

Gonna go take a crap at the neighbor's house?
You'll just have to take my word for it... Get at least two bathrooms.

13. Unless we're able to adopt a child... |
|
There's only 2 of us. And Paul says it's listed as a 1.5 bathroom on the records he's looking at. We have an appointment Sunday to look so we'll check to be sure then.
(As for taking a crap at the neighbor's house...if you didn't see me I didn't do it.)

16. It only takes two people to create a log jam after some bad food or overindulgence. |

But as long as you got a .5 then your bases are covered.

20. We lived for 25 years in a 2 BR, one bath household with 2 girls. It's fine. |
|
It was a really small bathroom too! Good luck and hope you find the dream house!

22. The house I grew up in had only one full bathroom |
|
and there were 3 kids. My parents eventually added a half-bath downstairs, but by that time I was in high school. We got by with only one full bathroom for over 14 years. It's not that big a deal.

3. nice. Don't give up. The house you need is waiting for you. |
|
at least that's what my wife and I though when we were looking.
BTW if that house were here in Oakland, CA it would cost anywhere from 400 - 800k or more depending on the neighborhood.

the kitchen is very nice...so is the yard. The price seems very reasonable. Also, I like the location near the lake. By the way, we raised four children (3 daughters) in a 3-bedroom house with one bathroom. We still live in that house and have survived just fine. Good luck to you!

I was thinking, is this some kind of a toilet? I thought nah it can't be. Now the question is, if I lift the giant lid will it be a one seater or two?

15. It says it's a Mud Room... |
|
An entryway is a hall that is generally located at the front entrance of a house. An entryway often has a coat closet, and usually has linoleum or tile flooring rather than carpet, making it an easy-to-clean transition space between the outdoor and indoor areas. Many houses do not have an entryway; in these the front door leads to a foyer, or directly into the living room or some other room in the house.
Many suburban American houses have a mud room, a casual, generally secondary entryway intended as an area to remove and store footwear, outerwear, and wet clothing before entering the main house. As well as providing storage space, a mud room serves to increase the cleanliness of a house proper. They can often double as laundry room.
In the Slavic culture the entryway is called sieni or sien. Such an entry room was a transitional room which served as a storage for the outdoor clothing or footwear. In rural areas such room traditionally also used as a lobby separating other rooms of a house such as a storage, bedroom, and others.

21. Looks like a very nice place. I especially like the floors. |
|
I think one reason the price is relatively low is that there's no garage, which is a bit of a drawback but not a deal-killer, IMO. When I bought my house 20 years ago there wasn't a garage, and not even a parking area like this house has. A few years later I had an area in the back yard paved so I didn't have to park on the street (a big hassle in winter in these parts), and eventually I had a 2-car garage built. But I don't think I could have afforded a house with a garage at the time.
If you get this house, you could always add a garage later. They really are nice to have.

29. This appears to be in much better condition than the previous house. |
|
There are no pictures of the basement, though. That, in the previous place, spoke of a world of problems, both financial and in time invested, to correct.
I highly recommend buying a house with the fewest problems, because there will be those you can't anticipate, anyways.
Sweat equity isn't all that, especially once you start having children and time disappears completely.
